There went the pheasant coop and I live where it doesn't snow at least not like this _ ever.... Now the pheasants sleep with the chickens but they don't mind If it werent for the extra wood supports I would have been crushed along with the birds. (No injuries thank God)

    Chicken TV

I don't even have TV anymore since we got the chickens we cancelled dish and just watch chickens roosters and pheasants and salmon spawning all day long pretty much, besides the occasional rerun dvd's we own. Chickens are charismatic, medatative, hypnotive, serene, and enjoyable. I love them.

    introducing new chickens

depends on your birds and how happy they are. I was scared about it from reading alot of posts and seeing people with real problems, but I noticed most of those having issues didn't have alot of room for their birds either. I had (3) 6 month old when I introduced 20 new chicks in my flock 8...

    Zero Eggs ... and a big UH-OH ...

I hang 2 heat lamps, red bulb, in my coop, and my chickens are still laying daily. Light is important for egg production, and it keeps the coop slightly warmer as well. Good Luck

    When Do You Deworm?

I deworm my chickens whenever I see runny or gooy poo that doesn't look normal. I use dewormer that you put in the water. I get it from my local farm feed store. It is the same wormer used for swine, poultry, cattle etc. Of course I only use a capful for 3 gallons of water.

    Young or Adolecent?

My first three were maybe 8 weeks when I got them. Very friendly, lovely chickens. My next 26 were ordered as day old chicks. Some of them have always been friendlier than the others, part depends on breed and personality. But when there is 25 they can't really all be in your lap/ arms at the...
