3/4 y.o. Chicken with swollen hard belly, bow legged wide stance.

Hello and thank you! Asking for a friend here who has a sick girl. She has been healthy and laying but yesterday was found to be lethargic, labored breathing, standing wide with a swollen hard belly. Watery dark green poops but explosive and loose today. Tail up wings down. She was given a warm...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Hello! This is my 4th time using a broody hen and have encountered a new challenge. Hope someone can shed light :) Daisy is sitting on 12 Serama and Olandsk Dwarf eggs. This is day 21. Yesterday I heard piping sounds all day and when I checked on her later I saw the one chick had broken off the...

Thank you for the rooster collar idea. The boys are living a grand life in the country but I will keep this in mind the next time I end up with a Rooster:)

Good idea! I will keep an eye out for good wine deals! I do have one neighbor who occasionally joins me for "coffee in the coop"; maybe I should switch that to "keg in the coop" for the other neighbor.

I could not agree more about the other noises and the funny thing is that our hens make as much nose as any rooster. I have tried the egg bribery but the neighbor on one side has her mind made up about what she does not like. I did get her to agree to "tolerate" the boys until I got some fertile...

This is a tough decision because they do seem like very laid back birds! Does your Rooster crow very often?

I am not sure if is the good care and lots of socializing my Bielfelder chicks received prior to their arrival but these little chicks are the sweetest, calmest and friendliest chickens I have raised.Well, they are not that little anymore, already at 10 weeks, they are as big as my Faverolle...

They are beautiful birds! How do your Roosters get along with everyone? I hear they are pretty friendly. When do your hens start laying and what size/quantity of eggs are you seeing? I haven't gotten to the "dual purpose" part of chickens yet and can't imagine eating them but certainly don't...

Retrieved my first Bielfelder chicks from the Post Office two days ago. They are so sweet, relatively calm and at 4 weeks are as large as my adult Olandsk Dwarf hens!!
