A Bielefelder Thread !

Very cute. That grass is doomed. Bieles love to eat. :)

Thanks. We really, really like them.

They will eat the grass and then we'll move them. I have about a 1/2 acre for the chickens to destroy.

I am hoping that the grass they eat will help to compensate for all the starter they are going through. They easily eat twice as much as my cream legbars at this age.

I could not agree more about the other noises and the funny thing is that our hens make as much nose as any rooster. I have tried the egg bribery but the neighbor on one side has her mind made up about what she does not like. I did get her to agree to "tolerate" the boys until I got some fertile eggs....

Well, that's something that she'll at least let you get some fertile eggs. Give her the bottle of wine (some of those wine stores have a nickel for a 2nd bottle of the same wine - BevMo or something like that?) Just make sure she knows the time frame so you'll have enough time to see if the eggs hatch and if they don't hatch that you'll need to keep the roo until you get a good hatch. Keep the 2nd bottle to give her in case you have to keep him for a 2nd hatch LOL

I figured my animals annoyed my closest neighbor but when I moved my goats to a new pasture he complained he couldn't see or hear them.

Good idea! I will keep an eye out for good wine deals! I do have one neighbor who occasionally joins me for "coffee in the coop"; maybe I should switch that to "keg in the coop" for the other neighbor.

Cockerel #1

Cockerel #2

Ok...here is one for you. Two cockerels come shipped in a box. One is a Bielefelder and one is a Cream Legbar. Who is who?

Sadly this is not a joke. Can anyone tell the difference? Thanks for your help.
