She's gorgeous! Congratulations!
WELCOME TO THE COCHIN CAFE FEEL FREE TO TAG ME IF YOU WANT TO KNWO MORE ABOUT PEKINS ( BANTAM COCHINS) OR LARGE FOWL COCHINS

also did you know pekins are actually not cochins at all but a seperate breed that was not the product of breeding large fowl cochins to get them small which is how most bantams work.

pekins are a true bantam meaning they only come in bantam form.

Such cuties
I’ll take any name suggestions! This is her second year, so that was her first broody attempt.
Side note, does anyone know if buff Cochins are partridge based?

💬 Jump in and cluck away!

I will go first.

I fell in love with cochins because of their fluff, how adorable and soft they are.

here are some of my cochins we have 2 buff cochins currently sophia and big booty bertha and my late splash cochin bunny. my guardian angel
Thank you for starting this thread! Your birds are really beautiful. I ordered five Blue Cochin from Murray McMurray, along with 13 other chicks that were hatched June 9th, and they threw in a surprise/mystery bird that happened to be a beauty of a black Cochin rooster! When it was little, it looked like a little penguin so it was nicknamed ‘Penguin’ for a while. Now everyone just calls him Shadow. He truly is a gentle giant. He’s very sweet. The other girls were 1 white, 2 silver splash and 2 gray. Sadly, about four weeks ago, a 🦊 took out the white and one silver splash. 🫣
I was surprised by the way the different breeds have a tendency of segregating themselves! We have a mixed flock with some New Hampshire‘s, Beilefelder‘s, Ameraucanas, and one sweet Salmon Favorelle. Most of the Cochins hang out longer together in the chicken coop after the door opens in the morning, and then they will often linger in the pen after that door opens, and the others have gone out to free range. After the episode with the Fox, I don’t blame them! They are so calm and gentle and seem like easy pray for predators.

All of our birds have had a lot of handling so they are well tamed. They certainly come when you call them and gather and follow anyone around outdoors.
