Yup, they are free range, car did not drive into the coop ;)... Already tried keeping them in for a day, no eggs.... All six hens stopped at once, very strange....
Float test ?? I buried them in the garden two days ago. What is the float test? It may come in handy for these last two eggs I have in the incubator ( day 22) ......thnx
P.S.The mirror is brilliant!
So, 10 eggs in, one chick out! Very disappointing!.....Now I have an only chick who is very needy ;\.... Darla chirps constantly. I have to hold her or keep my hand in the box to keep her quiet. I have two eggs in the incubator, due to hatch yesterday. One egg bounced around a couple of times...
Thanks:)....there are 7 more eggs in with this one, one of the other eggs moved last evening but nothing since....Even if I don't get a great hatch, I will have learned a lot for next time. Best of luck with your eggs.......
Day 23 today (including the day I set eggs in the incubator) One egg had external pip 12:00 am. No change at 6am. I took it out and opened up the membrane ( at beak), no real bleeding. I put the egg back in the incubator. 7am, it has been chirping and rolling around a bit but no other cracks...
I have been treating my chickens for coccidiosis for the last 3 weeks. I do not have a clue how they got it and I lost almost my entire original 8 chickens to it.....I only have 8 chickens and they free range almost every day even in winter. Everything I have read about treating cocci states...
I adopted an adult rooster ( approx 1&1/2 yrs) I did so because I have a very broody hen..He has been with me for over a month and I have not seen him mount any of the hens. My broody hen was sitting for 10 days, I just checked her eggs two days ago, not one was fertile.....Can a Roo be a dud??
My chickens love, love, love, roasted unsalted sunflower seeds...they run ( very fun to watch) all the way across our very big yard when I shake the container. Even when I can't see them, they come running at the sound....
They also love worms from the garden...
