Chickens have stopped laying eggs. Not much has changed in lifestyle. Last winter they continued to lay eggs all winter with just a little decline in eggs. Any ideas.
well if you live in new york you need a bird license to have them. I have pheasants, quail and mallards and I have to have a license from the state. Check your local state on the laws.
it could be the light of the feathers that make them look a little lighter than normal but they do look like Eastern's a bit. The heads look like Eastern's all the way with the blue and red.
well I hunted them and I am almost sure the blue headed ones are Eastern's and if they are from the same parents or related then they are all Eastern's in one way or another. That one looks very much like an Eastern.
that looks kinda like the ones I am trying to find out what they are but yours have blue head which mean they must be female where the one I have posted has a red head which means Male.
What can I do to help my quail eggs to be viable. Have only one Hen and 4 males. She lays eggs one every 3 days or so and so far none are viable. Any Ideas.
yes they are ringneck and I have a white heat lamp on them that comes on by dusk to dawn timing. At least one has just started to lay eggs. I put them in the incubator but no sign of embryo yet.
also when you blow up the picture the bills have yellow in them where the pictures you guys downloaded are all black? I wounder if there is cross breading with wild duck???
It seems like the ones with the dark heads seem to resemble drake mallards with the same markings on the wings and the same design on head. The females have the same markings on the wings but the feathers are a little bit of a grey tint rather than brown?
