Meet Taun Taun and Wonton, Two white (with a little red leakage) Roos that are looking for love and are very available. I prefer them to not be food.
They can go together (they get along very well) or separate. We got three silkie chicks this spring and all turned out to be male, our small flock...
Sorry! Didn't mean to give the impression that they were going out now. I'm just getting things ready for when they are old enough. I like to have everything set up ahead if time. They are in a brooder in the basement right now.
The dog crate is plastic with a metal grid front and side vents up...
Thanks!
The dog crate won't fit in our coop though. The crate is too big and the coop is narrow :(
The crate also has to be taken apart to fit into our tractor so once it's in I'd like to leave it otherwise I'd have to disassemble and reassemble it every night.
We don't have snakes big enough...
Hello,
We have 4 week old chicks that will eventually be introduced to out current flock...
When they are in the transition period after brooder and before going in with the big girls, I was planning on keeping them in our mobile chicken tractor. It is built out of PVC, wood base and chicken...
I don't think we are going to get rid of any. They are more pets than just egg layers. So would the developer be safe into old age with them?
Thanks for the recipes - I'm sure my chickens will love them!
I'm sorry! One more question! If starter is 18% protein and layer is 16% is 20% protein in the developer or grower to high? I was planning on using purina sun fresh as its readily available but didn't know if the protein is to high.
Hello,
My girls will be 18 weeks soon and I was going to move them to a laying ration soon. However, we will be gettin chicks in the spring and once they are old enough they will join the older ladies. I've read that the growing feed is not good for the older hens and the laying ration has too...
Found three more "remains" yesterday and today found a wing buried in our garden. Right next to a bean plant and it wasn't they yesterday. Feels like the darn thing is taunting me now! Little foxy prints all around the burial site.
Has anyone had issues with foxes getting through portable electrified poultry netting?
We really want the remaining chickens to be able to forage and need to find a way to do it safely. Will that be enough to deter a fox?
Thanks for the info everyone. It's just so sad. I'm not counting on anyone returning at this point. Why is it that it always seems to be the favorites that go first? All the cuddly ones are gone. :(
So the others are definitely dead? My husband and kids didn't hear a thing. We were hoping the others were just scared off, but as it's dark now I don't have any hope that they will come home. I figured we'd find feathers of at least one other chicken (they were all different colors) but...
Came home from work to have my hubby and kids tell me half of our flock is gone. Found evidence of one chicken that was attacked ( feathers at attack sight and a larger group of feathers further into the woods) no trace of the other 6. 6 were huddled up outside our door and 1 came home 3 hrs...
After a process of elimination this bird would only be able to be an Easter Egger if the hatchery packed my order correctly. I just didn't see any cheek tufts and the color threw me a bit.
Any idea what the mature color may be? Was all yellow upon arrival and here at 1 week there is some blue...
I wanted plastic too. I feel like its putting your brand new baby in a dirty diaper!
Good to know the other stuff is safe. Now to figure out the cost. If its close to paying for a new one I'll just get plastic! :)
