    Still going good so far with my Silkie eggs (8 out of 12 look promising). Of course, I'm checking pens the other night & notice our Blue Silkie hen is missing...turns out she's sitting on several eggs as well. Here's hoping she'll have better luck than I have to date

    humidity dropping by nearly 10% daily? Hova 1588

    How in the world are you lucky enough to get your humidity to hold like that during lockdown? I filled both troughs like it says in my 1588 for lockdown & by the time my third chick hatched, my humidity was 80%...and that was with the red plug out. My hatch rate was terrible because of this...

    I put my paper towels on top of the wire just to make it easier to clean up after hatching. Just be careful how much water you put in...I put in more than I should have & once they start hatching, the humidity will go up. I learned the hard way. yes, I left the fan on for circulation. Good...

    Well I've lost all that I hatched, except one. This is so frustrating Everything in their environment was fine, so not sure what the problem was. I've got 12 more Silkie eggs in the incubator & then that's it...this is getting too expensive for such a big loss.

    Sorry you had bad luck too. I just put 12 Lavender Silkie eggs in the bator after this last hatch. Will tweak some things & hoping for a better hatch/survival rate this time around. You may ask around at the show. We've never sold at a show, but have while showing at state fairs. Even if...

    Well four out of the nine that actually hatched have died & one has a foot problem, so this has been heartbreaking to say the least.

    Well we lost two of the new Silkie chicks today & I'm really worried about the Golden Sebright. He/she has curled feet & is the little runt, hasn't even fluffed out like everyone else. Gonna construct some little "shoes" to try & help him when hubby gets home.

    I found out the hard way...it's much easier to raise the humidity than lower it once in lockdown & hatching begins
