With some wonderful help from a BYC member out of state, I was able to find a good home for the girls ---Thanks Roopty!
We're moving out of Tucson soon and I would like to find a good home for my three hens. They come with a coop, fencing, two waterers, feeder, oyster shells, and...

I would imagine that there are a few folks in Tyson country that might like that idea.
Science project or no, I'd like to try some of these things. That solar refrigeration trick sounds fun.
This is the recipe that I use:
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pint of water
Works like a champ and is similar to what you get in the packets. (see packet contents)
I'd have to second getting Mozilla Firefox and Spybot Search & Destroy. They both work pretty well. I'd also recommend getting Kaspersky Internet Security. It's about $70, but it's worth it. It'll really help keep all of the junk off of your box...no matter where you surf.
lost, I'm with you on this one.
I've just adopted a bird and was told that it was doing this and seems to have some pretty runny poop. The best that I can find is that it just happens sometimes at the start or end of a laying period. I'm giving ACV in the water and oyster shell in the coop...
Hello All,
The LW, Daughter, and I are on the east side of Tucson - just north of Click's Ford place @ 22nd and Wilmot. Drive around the neighborhood at dawn and you'll hear "the girls".
Andy
My folks and the LW's folks have pretty much given up saying anything to us about the strange things we do (running a car on biodiesel at 50mpg, knowing where our food comes from, insisting that a stay-at-home dad is a good thing, etc).
They know that I've got a smile and a boot for their...
We have one of ours in a 2' tall 3' round tomato cage of sorts with door screen tied to it to keep things in. When it gets about half full, I pull up the ring and spread it out on the ground a bit. Our two "girls" have a grand time pulling out the bugs and when they're done, I shovel it back...
The LW and I learned a very valuable lesson today. The mallard that came with our two hens on Saturday, flew the coop today. He was well fed and seemingly inseparable from one of the hens, but I think that the call of the open road was more than he could stand.
We'll be clipping some flight...
Cool LC. I've tried to finish Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maint for several years now. It seems like the meditations on quality...just...lead..me..off..into...circular.....reasoning........and........daydreams........

Very nice. I do a little gardening on the side too. Sometimes it seems like a full time job. Feel free to dig through the old newsletters for info. The planting guides will probably be off a bit for your altitude.
Andy
The LW came in this morning with TWO EGGS!! Two of 'em on our first day with adopted chickens. One has a light blue tint and the other is white. Breakfast is lookin' up around here.
Thanks for the info SC. There aren't too many predators outside of Harris' Hawks here in T-Town though. The...
There will probably be one weekend that I won't be able to play due to my off-road motorcycle racing sickness, but I'm sure that I can figure something out. Most of the races seem to be up toward Pahoenix anyway.
I look forward to meeting some other AZ chicken folks.
Andy
AF, it was pretty funny alright. Thanks for the welcome. All we needed was an old lady in a rocking chair with a shootin' iron. We had to figure which streets we could get away with going 25mph on. Luckily, we've both ridden bicycles around town enough to know where to go. I still had to...
The LW and I have wanted chickens for a while now, but with my biodiesel project on hold, my cistern project on hold, and a big chunk of money recently spent on the house, we/she decided that one project at a time is the best way. Well, that all went out the window yesterday. A family member...
