Oh he's absolutely magnificient, such a regal bearing! I'm so sorry for your loss. That picture has decided it for me though; Welsh Harlequins it is!
As for your offer of the ducklings, I think I will have to take you up on that! We'll have to keep in touch, I would love to include two of them...
Well now I think I'm torn between the Welsh Harlequins and Khaki Campbells! If I wasn't so limited by my flocks size (for the next year at least, moving soon and I'll have plenty of space for a large flock) I would get two of each. I'll have to see which are more availible in this area I suppose.
I got my first Indian Runners during the summer of 2012. I raised one as a duckling, and the other two were raised with the flock my friend owned. The first one I raised unfortunately died due to health defects. But the other two birds absolutely thrive and are healthy as can be.

@amiga Those runners sound just like my gals! Just about anything will set them off to quacking. If I seperate the two of them for even a minute they make such a fuss!
@Nebraskagirl I'm sorry to hear about your loss! Its really unfortunate :(
But would you tell me more about the Welsh...

I've done google searches and a bit of searching on BYC with the hopes of having a definative guide to raising healthy and happy peafowl. Unfortunately I can't really find any particularly "full" guides. Most sources will give me bits-and-pieces of information, such as their tolerance to...
As most of the above posters have said, you seem to be doing a good job with keeping it clean. Chemical cleaners are never recommended, just put some elbow grease into scrubbing, as annoying as it is. However, have you thought of using a filter or aerator to keep the water moving? Algae forms...
It seems to me, while a mix is entirely possible, that the ducklings you have there are mostly Muscovies, While the lighter ones bear an appearance similar to my Indian Runners. Most have a posture that isn't a trait of runner ducks. It's a safe bet to say that they Muscovies.
