Pleasant Hill, CA Pullets for sale?

Planned for about a year to get a new batch of pullets (about 5) this Spring. I’ve had chickens for 15 years. Due to pandemic, local feed store (Concord Feed) doesn’t have them now that I actually have time to raise them. Anybody in Pleasant Hill, CA or surrounding have access to some? I need...

    California - Northern

Not entirely sure what that means...was there supposed to be a link? Thanks for thinking of me though! Anyway, issue is resolved. I left a note at a nearby neighbor with a large flock. She brought over 2 hens last Friday and I've been keeping them separated with a small chicken tractor but...

    In search of two chickens

Looking for someone in Walnut Creek, CA area who might want to thin their flock by 1 or 2 hens. Less than 3 yrs old would be preferable. My single chicken is lonely and don't have time to raise new chicks until Spring - may not even be able to find any at this point anyway! Backstory: Sadly, I...

Looking for source of mareks vaccine in Pleasant Hill, CA

Per research on previous Mareks threads, a revered vet writes: " If a bird that has not been vaccinated for Mareks Disease comes down with the obvious symptoms of Mareks it may be of value to vaccinate anyway. There is some research to show that some birds may recover after vaccination. This...

Ended Official BYC Contest: Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2012

My largest chicken, "Snowball", today. Feathers everywhere for entire week! Thought she was attacked by my neighbor's kitten who has been stalking the cage for several weeks. The kitten was playing with a feather in her mouth - much relieved to see Snowball perfectly well in the coop.

    Bumble foot

How did it go? I just spent 1.5 hours on one of mine. Unfortunately, she's a bleeder, so I only removed the four black scabs but never found the plug. Rechecks and more surgery for the rest of the chickens tomorrow.

    Bumble foot

Good luck! I have 4 chickens with it right now, most in both feet. I had one successful removal of the plug this week, but the rest I wrapped with gauze/Vetwrap after 10 min Epsom Salt soak, exploration of the black spot with a razor blade, spraying with Vetericyn and a slathering of vaseline to...

    Greetings from Pleasant Hill, CA

Yes, I agree with finding the cause. I inspected the coop and run for anything sharp and I just don't see anything. Today I will actually feel around inch by inch. They free range in our backyard, so lots to look for. Yeah, with four of five having it in both feet something seems amiss! My only...

    Greetings from Pleasant Hill, CA

Yes, thank you for posting this. I have read every bumble foot link and post possible at this point, I think. So many hours spent reading about bumble foot and handling my chickens today. I just can't get the plug out of some of them. I have found reports that Vetericyn and Epson soaking might...

    Greetings from Pleasant Hill, CA

I've been using this site based in my home town for 5 years. But now I need to ask a question about bumble foot, so I am officially a new member. Happy summer, Allison (Started with 9 chickens 5 years ago, gave 2 away because my coop was built for 6, 1 killed by my puppy the next week, 2 died...

    Bumblefoot?

Hi there - just performed my first bumble foot surgeries this afternoon using all the info I could find on the internet. Looks like 4 of my 5 chickens have bumble foot. My four older chickens (5 years old) have it in both feet; the youngest one (1 year) not at all. Don't know what caused the...
