I breed Silver Laced Orpingtons. They are absolutely beautiful. My lineage is Green Fire Farms. I am in Medicine Park Oklahoma outside Fort Sill. I am often in the OKC area.
I have splash cochins and the other 4 are a project “Lemon Pyle” Brahmas. I have 1 cockerel and 2 pullets for the Cochins just don’t know the sex of the Brahmas by looking at feathers. Wasn’t sure if anyone could pick up on it or just to early to tell.
Thank you seeing your pictures give me hope for this girl/guy. He made it out but had the umbilical cord still attached took a bit to get that off but it left a piece behind looking like he now has an outie? Will this eventually fall off? I worry about it because it seems to be really struggling...
Thank you I chipped away at the pip hole. There is no blood at all but did notice the membrane is tightly wrapped around so I put a tiny small amount of oil on it and around the egg and put it back in. It is very active trying to get out
Help! I have a Cochin on day 23 pipped 26 hours ago and yes he is chirping away in the egg. I did wet the pip hole (I saw this as a tip) What can I do if anything from this point? Was told NOT to help it but I am afraid he for some reason can't get out. He is the only lone surviver from a Morely...
Ok thank you I have her inside with me and I have lathered her up with Vaseline and A&D and yes I know about the egg withdrawal. She is only 5 months and not laying yet but I am sure she will soon. Do you think she will get the use of her foot back or is it dead for good? If she has them this...
Wow Suzie I am researching that now and that is exactly what her foot looks like! So that 2 nights it got real cold she got frostbite? That is the only way and Wow I didn't think they would get that here :( Maybe she didn't get in the coop and slept under it all night, sometimes the little ones...
I have done that and no its not cold here at all. I am in Oklahoma and at night they coop up but maybe gets down to about 50-60 at night. Now we did have 2 real cold says a couple weeks ago that got down to maybe 20-30 enough to freeze their waters. Maybe something happened that night?
Well here is the issue I have I just ran her through everything and upon check no moving bugs, no mites nothing but I treated for them anyway But the foot is hard as a rock. I trilled to move the toes down to see if they will curl or grasp and they are like so hard and stiff if I try and move...
I have always used .25 on all the birds but not sure if it was enough for the Cochins or too much for younger ones. (I have never given this to any of my birds younger than a year so first time)
I am also seeing so many conflicting amounts for the Ivermectin. Does anyone know how much to use per LB of bird? All mine are Standards but a lot are still very young 5-6 mo old
All mine are free range but I have them contained within 2 acres. There isn't anything she could have gotten wrapped up in. I walked the yard and their run and coop area and nothing. At first that is what I was thinking too but I found nothing. I have always just went ahead and treated everyone...
I was just looking into this. It's weird because I treat them all with Ivermectin so now I am going to rush bath all them in wood ash and see if I can't get this under control. I wonder if I do this if she will be able to walk again?
