I have two female Pekin ducks and one has started quacking loudly, almost a screech, that is threatening to drive my husband and my neighbors bonkers! I live right in the center of San Francisco and while one is very quiet, the other is a screecher! What can I do to stop this? I feed them...
please tell me what I should do for Bumblefoot that is swollen and hot but not something that I could pull a scab off . I am soaking it and wrapping it but there is no scab to pull off.
I recently had to put my Peaches and Mr.Pickles down and I am heartbroken! I don't know exactly how old they were, but Mr. Pickles was blind but he followed Peaches around the garden and she led him always back to the duck house area.
Both of their legs were virtually gone, although their pool...
Thank you for your suggestion. Trouble is I've gotten a bit fond of this little duck...but you are right that I have to protect Peaches and as he grows, his amorous assaults on her are only going to increase!
So...this little duck named Poppy that I rescued from a fire in Northern California is NOT A GIRL! And now he is humping my old female Peaches who doesn't deserve nor want this in her retirement! I don't know what to do other than try to take him back to the Napa Valley rescue where I got him...
She is super lightweight so I guess that she has not been well fed other than what they gave her at the Napa HS. No bumblefoot as one footpad was slightly burned but is healing well.
I cant post a video because this happened this a.m. As for her age she has not started laying eggs, so my guess is she was a spring 2020 duckling and may be 5-6 mos. old. She was rescued by the Napa County rescue along with a goat and the sweetest young pig.
What is Angel wing and can it be...
I just brought home yesterday a very young Pekin female who was rescued from one of the wildfires end of August in northern CALIFORNIA. I’ve only had her one day and today she is limping from jumping out of her swimming pool. Other than putting dried leaves thickly around the pool, can any one...
I have a Pekin duck called Mr. Pickles who has recurring eye infections. What can anyone suggest that might provide good bedding and not contribute to this eye infection problem? I have used wood shavings, and I have used hay. Any other suggestions? Please help!
I had my male Pekin duck, Mr. Pickles, to the Avian vet to check his eyes. All very healthy! However, the vet assistant noticed a mite in his feathers. Are mites a problem with your ducks? And if so, how do you get rid of them?
I absolutely understand and wouldn't want your sweet ones to be upset in order to keep my Peaches company in San Francisco. Please take care of yourself and know how much I appreciate your warmth and caring thoughts for me and for Peaches.
The good news, if there is such a thing as good news when losing a beloved pet, is that Peaches has become a bit friendlier to me. She was terribly skittish before, having come from the butcher shop, but her loneliness is making her come closer and quack appreciatively when I bring her treats...
Peaches is a lovely but lonely Pekin duck! Might you be able to put her in a little cardboard box, with water and food and ship her fastest way possible to San Francisco? I would be there to get her ASAP! She would get a wonderful loving home with me and with Peaches.
