I have free range birds. I have peahens and chickens, turkey and ducks. They usually stay close to the house. We have 80+ acres but the birds always stay within eye shot. We have had a UPS truck hit one because he was speeding down my road. (they called and apologized) and I've had one become a...
I have experienced the chickens eating the eggs and they eat the entire egg. Also, the snakes take the whole egg. We put golf balls in the coop for the snakes, I've experienced that as well unfortunately. This is why I'm at such a loss. It looks like a perfect line across the egg making it like...
Can someone please tell me what can open an egg like a can opener, leave the shell but lick the shell clean! I have dogs and cats that help protect my chickens and peacocks so I can't imagine something being so bold as to come get some eggs. We have found a possum in our dog food but do they...
I am sorry about your chicken. While I am no expert, I am like you seem to be with the power of positive thinking. Since you are willing to try and work with her you can always splint or hobble the legs and say some healing prayers. It may seem silly to some, but God wants us to enjoy his...
I have 4 male peacocks and one peahen. The peahen just hatched out her chicks and is busy with them. I had one peacock free ranging with the peahen. This peacock is 3 years old and the other three peacocks are 3, 1 & 1. The two three year olds where fighting back in spring so I caged up the one...
It sounds just like mine. I didn't think it was working either but I just continued with the bound legs, making sure she ate and drank. I did not leave water in with her for fear she would drown. After about 4 days she began to straighten up and learned to gain balance. Now, I can hardly tell...
Thank you so much!! All prayers will be received with gratitude! I have notice much improvement today she/he can actually stand pretty good. I think the baby is going to just take time like you said. I'm so glad it's not something else. I don't think she could have Marek's but will look into...
I have chick that is a 3 days old. I found her hatched on a hard surface (her mother abandoned her) on her side, with her leg stretched out behind her. I didn't notice any ligament or tendons out of place, the legs move about seemingly to me in a normal way. I have other chicks that are all...
She is completely well. I am so happy to report!! I put her back in with the other 2 chicks and they are all getting along and happy. Thanks for all the help
She is doing well this morning!! So happy to report that. Last night I gave her to the Lord and asked Him to take care of her and this morning is like new. As far as the grit goes, I took her outside to play(the evening before she got sick) and just kinda figured that she did her thing...
Ok, she was just disoriented or something because she/he is not falling over now. Also, She has pooped 6 times in the last hour or so... that is more than she normally has been. Is that good or bad?
ok, the temp is 92, she now acts like she's trying to fall over. I've been trying to get her to eat but she doesn't take in much. Last night I encouraged her to eat a little black bug... I checked her crop (empty) and she is still pooping but could it have been the bug? Also, she was in with two...
Should I give Ivermec? If so how much of the injectable kind (that's all I have) She wasn't vaccinated for Marek's but none of my flocks are or ever have been. I've had my chickens for about 5 years now and they just hatch babies so I'm not exposing them to new chickens so I didn't know I needed...
Thank you, she has plenty of fresh water and food. She is not eating as she keeps her eyes closed except when she is chirping which she only does when I'm messing with her. I will try the pasting poop thing however she just pooped again and it was a little more runny. I'll post a pic of the new...
The chick was fine last night. This morning, she was gasping for air. I gave her some tylan 50 from a dropper but she's not eating. I don't know what to do. She is about a week old. Any suggestions?
I need help. My baby chick (week old) is gasping for air. She makes a clicking sound when trying to breath in. I gave her a couple drops of Tylan 50 and some water. She doesn't appear to have anything stuck in her crop and I looked in her throat and didn't see anything. I am posting a pic of poop.
Thank you to everyone. It is terrible to loose her. I just got a mate for her too and so now he is lonely , she passed away three days after I got him. Experience is key.
