We buy ours from a local feed store. We also buy it from a farm store (they carry seeds for farmers). I'd call your local feed store or an IFA. Good luck!
We have a chick starter that we got for the ducklings I don't remember what the protein is on it. I'll look when I get home. Noted on the 15 minutes of feed. Would you recommend fodder for them at all?
I just ordered our first batch of Cornish Cross Birds, any tips some of you "seasoned meat birders" could share? We're not new to chickens, just meat birds.
We are currently using Barley and BOSS for fodder. We're looking to add Alfalfa and Wheat to the seed mix. How do I determine how much of each to use? The girls still have access to lay mash and about an 1/8 of an acre to play on. Thanks!
Perfect! Thanks so much MillarMeadows. I let the master builder know he has to build them a box of some sort. We use hay in the chicken coop, so that will be easy enough to do for the ducks. In the fall it all goes out to the garden.
I just ordered our first batch of Silver Appleyards on Thursday. I'm so excited for them to get here. They get to live in my daughters bathtub for a few months.
We have about an 1/8 of an acre that has been predator proofed for our chickens to run in. The ducks would be in the same area during the day. I will get the book you have recommended and add it to our library. We've talked about doing mealworms (just haven't decided to do it yet), we do have a...
Also, can mature ducks eat chicken lay mash? We give our chickens an 18% lay mash, fodder and they free range during the day. We also add homemade plum vinegar to their water (when the plum is all gone, we will go back to ACV) Will this be acceptable for the ducks? I appreciate you sharing your...
Thanks for all of the info. Does keeping a light on in the winter affect they're bodies at all? We have chickens and we don't have a light on during the winter because it can cause health issues (prolapsing and what not).
We've been giving our hens fermented grain for a couple of months now and I have some questions. We have 40 hens we've been giving them approximately 2 gallons of wet feed in the mornings and and a big old scoop of dry grain at night. We are only getting about a dozen eggs a day. Any thoughts on...
so the red star is the same breed as a red sex-link? We will def. need docile personalities with as many kids as we have. Thank you guys for all of your help so far.
