Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Hi there, I'm actually thinking that could be a hen. It's a little early to be 100% certain but the comb/waddle Isn't big and the tail doesn't look like a roo's. You can see from my original photo how the tail fanned up in the back and the comb was very large! Good luck!

Sudden unexplained death of hen! I'm sad and baffled. :(

Yes, that's what's more of a mystery, she's not even one yet. She's very young. So strange. Thank you for your help. Sorry about Sassy. :(

Sudden unexplained death of hen! I'm sad and baffled. :(

We're so utterly confused. Saw my four hens at 9 am to fill their water bowl and feeder. All seemed well. Our white/black brahma, Silver, jumped back in the coop to lay an egg. I went back inside my house, came back out to check on the chickens at about 12:30 or 1pm and Silver was dead. On her...

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Thanks everyone for the support. We went back to the farm on Saturday and got three pretty girls to replace our beautiful boys. It was so sad to say good-bye, but we can't keep them here in the SFV in LA. :( Posting a picture of our three new girls, "Pretty," "Silver" and "Copper." They join...

Thanks, that's good to know. I was just worried about a surprise hatching! But I know that requires incubation, etc. Thanks again!

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Oh my, this is terrible. My daughter is going to be so sad. Well that explains why they aren't laying!! I just hope that the farm will take them back; they are such lovely birds. :( We really love them, but we can't have roosters and I don't want fertilized eggs. Thanks again for everyone's help!

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Here are three photos of my other "girl" oh my could it be? The last photo is of both the australorps together. What do you all think? Do I have two boys!? Only one of them crows though. Thank you SOOO much for your help!

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Yes, I thought it was odd, too, that they haven't laid yet. One of them has been squatting a lot, but I've searched their whole pen and coop and no hidden nest of eggs. They have a large pen to range free. Oh my, could it be I have two roosters?? I'm going to post photos of my other "girl!"

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Thanks for your fast responses, I was really hoping I was wrong. We're not allowed to have roosters in our neighborhood, so I'm praying the farm will exchange him. We love him, but it's only a matter of time before our neighbors complain about the cock-a-doodle-doo! Thanks again.

Black Australorp is crowing -- do I have a rooster?!?

Hi everyone, I'm very new to this chicken business, but we're excited and committed to having happy healthy chickens. We've grown to love our flock after two months. We bought four hens from a lovely farm up in Temecula. Woke up two weeks ago though to one of our Black Australorps...
