Other then that she's perfectly normal, she never picks at it or anything I only noticed it when I was holding her and felt it or else I would of probably never have known it was there
I noticed a lump on my chicken's upper leg, it looks like a big lump of skin but it squishes in when you touch it, and it looks like its fluid filled or that it's a cyst.. Anyway what is it and can it be treated if anyone knows??
When I went and saw my coop today one of my Rhode Island Reds was acting weird. She was wobbling when she walked and could only walk a few steps then lays down and stays there for a while. Then she began puking up flem and is still having trouble. She tried drinking water but then threw up...
It happened again. Exactly one week later the animal was back. I predator-proofed my coop and it dug under everything something this morning around 10 a.m and got another one of my chickens. It ate only the head again and must of got to one of the others because she can't walk and is puking up...
I know I just moved them yesterday to a different area on my property so I didn't get around to doing that. I never thought a predator would come. I find it weird that only one was eaten where other sources say only owls or hawks will take one but there's a roof and other birds can't get it
Also there was a rainstorm with thunder and lighting around 3 a.m so I think it might have scared the predator away and that's why it only ate one and didn't go after the rest. Could it have been a fox.. what are signs of foxes?
I woke up this morning to see that an animal had gotten into my coop late last night. There was a hole dug under the fence about 8 inches wide and it only took one chicken and ate the neck and head and left the body just laying in the coop. There was no smell so I don't think it could have been...
My buff orpington went into brooding a couple weeks ago around 3 and a half 4, and before she had a full bright red comb, but I went to check on her today and her comb was like pink, and pale, I heard this is a sign of sickness and that she might die, is this true? Is it because she hasn't come...
My Buff Orpington went broody for the first time 2 days ago and I want to give her a few fertilized eggs to hatch. But I have 4 Rhode Island Reds, 5 black Orpington's and 2 Buffs. If I let the Buff that's going broody raise and hatch a couple of eggs will the others go after the babies when they...
Im pretty sure its a chicken egg i dont have any other types of birds that could of laid this and i dont think someone put this in there for a joke, being that my coop is shut and locked tight at night.
No they have a normal enviorment to run in and im always outside with them when i let them free roam. I was checking up on this and other websites have told me that my chicken is sick but no one has clarified this yet!
I went into my coop this morning to find a solid black egg right in the middle of there coop on the ground outside! I thought my chickens were suppose to lay white and brown eggs the breeds i have are Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds. Is this normal or is one of them...
I went into my coop this morning and found this black egg right in the middle on the ground! I only have 3 types of chickens and i thought they all layed white or brown eggs. The kinds I have are Rhode Island Red, Black Australopes and Buff Orpington's. Is this a sign of a sick chicken?? I...
I went in my coop one day and i noticed that my Barred Rocks back end was picked raw to the point where all her feathers were gone and her back end was all bloody. our first egg was also in the coop when I checked later and i think she may have been the one to lay it and thats possibly why they...
