What type of bator are you using? Sounds like a styrofoam square type. At day 14 you need to open the incubator and remove the turner and place the eggs on the wire floor. Do not put newspaper over the wire floor as this is too slick and will cause the baby quail to have bad legs. Keep it...
Anyone know if they sell organic quail feed from the mills? I feed about 400 lb. layer and 100 lb. starter a week so I would need an easy bag type feed or bulk. I prefer already mixed type feeds not something I have to figure ratios and mix together.
Thanks
Wait till they get in high school and tell the AG teacher,FFA teacher and everyone else...You will have a lot more friends asking for eggs and chickens...It's your kids friends that look at them funny...eeww you do what to quail / chickens with their heads off and feathers too...eeewwww no way!!!
Sed it depends on what you are wanting to do with your quail, do you want them to just breed and lay eggs for you or do you want to just sit and watch them as you would in thier natural type habitat?
My breeders are 5 per pen and the pens are 2x2x1. My flight pen for mature birds is 12x6x32 and...
Depends on age really;
1 day olds = .50 each
2 week olds = .75 each
3 week olds = 1.00 each
4 week olds = 1.50 each
6 week olds = 2.00 each
I have some that are near 8 week olds but not laying yet but should soon and they are 2.50
Where are you located?
Some of your smaller farms are going in together to form local coops which members pay a small fee to join and then share the cost of inspection and related fees. Basically everyone puts their birds (games, chickens, hogs, etc) through a regulated and inspected processing plant / trailer and...
I have a sportsman and have been using it for about a year now, I have great hatches and the incubator is working fine. My question is those that incubate quail the instructions say you can double stack the turning trays to double your hatch numbers, I have tried and my couturnix eggs are way...
I like em enough to hatch 200-300 at a time, but either way when it comes to feeding them the bills just keep coming in..lol. So far they seem to pay for themselves somewhat.
I like em so much I'm will to sell them to you too. lol
Sounds like some form of fowl pox, maybe ,anyway go to your local feed store and buy some antibiotic to go into their water supply, should clear up your problem soon. May also be able to give each bird an antibiotic shot which would work faster.
I keep several packets of this around the house...
Everyone is telling me to use rabbit waterers, this is the whole reason I want an automatic waterer, I can not keep these small things full of water, I fill em and two hours later they are empty. I need something that I can fill once a day or fills itself. What every it is it has to be safe to...
