Last evening looking in the window of the coop, just watching him....he is very aggressive pecking them on the side if the head and neck......bringing blood!!!! Why does he not even pay any attention to the brown hens? mystery to me. I am new to owning a rooster, but I wanted to raise some baby...
I just added a' big" full grown rooster to my flock...hens only flock for a year and a half.
I kept them seperated for several days but when I let him out in the run he went right
for my leghorns......pecking and just beating them. I have 3 rhode island reds(full grown) and he gets along with...
that is what my husband said. We did not see any prints around her and feathers
everywhere. Yes we have seen hawks around before. I guess I was getting too
comfortable....my girls are about 2 yrs old. This is the 1st one to be killed...so sad
I was letting my hens freerange today, I checked on them off and on.
I saw a white feathers everywhere , I went down to check, something had
tore on of hens head off outside the run, feathers were all over.
She was about 50 ft from the coop, where whatever it was left her.
This was about 1:00 or...
I read she may be egg bound, I gave her a warm bath and felt around on her.
I did not feel anything hard on her backside. I put her back in the coop around
dark last night and she passed during the night :(
I have been watching my other girls and they seem fine. She had not eaten
in 2 days...
Wow....What a beautiful home for your sweet girls...I love it !!!!

add some of your ideas to my little chicken home.

in one spot for the last two days....last night she did go in the coop......this morning she comes out
stands in on spot. I put food in front of her she won't eat, but I did see her drink a little...
I am seeing something much like you are describing. I ahave a white leghorn
who has been standing in the same spot for two days.....I am seeing her move at all.
She went in the coop last night and jumped up on the roost. This morning she is standing
still. I let the others girls out to free...
