I know! I was pretty proud of myself! I've got 50ish chicks in the coop, 2 incubators running constantly, and 45 more chicks coming this week! I've learned to just embrace the insanity!
Our TSC is done for the year too. *Whew* I did show a ridiculous amount of self restraint... I only came home with 5 Russian Orloffs, 2 Silver Laced Cochin Bantams, a Dark Brahma Bantam, 2 Buff Brahma Bantams, 1 white Cochin Bantam, a Rhode Island Red, 2 Black Australorps, 2 Silver Laced...
For anyone interested in hatchery orloffs, Ideal Hatchery has them in stock right now!

If you're looking for colorful birds and prolific eggs, here are some suggestions!
White Eggs
- Brown leghorns are beautiful birds, and lay tons of large, white eggs.
-White leghorns are the champion white egg laying breed. Expect almost an egg a day from these girls.
-Exchequer Leghorns are...
I wouldn't be too worried about her. I had 2 5 month old banty hens go broody on me when the weather was -26 with windchill! It got a little warmer than that later on, but they did just fine cold weather and all! Both hens hatched about 2 days late, which could have been caused by the cold...
I'm not sure what they'll look like! I picked up a few orloffs a couple weeks ago when they were the featured breed, and some of them are feathering in light, and some are coming in dark. From what I've seen, no two orloffs look alike! Wish I could say my chicken math was staying put... But I...
Bahahahahaha alliecat2886!!!! Chicken math, chicken math... :) That's awesome! Yes, you picked up an orloff as well. Have you looked them up? They're pretty crazy looking! Not as ridiculous as your turken though!
@ramirezframing That's a thought! I thought female black sex links were...
I picked this little beauty up out of the mixed pullet box... She never even made it into the bin! I have been scouring the internet for ideas of what she could be, and am not coming up with much. I also pulled a russian orloff out of the same box, so she could be almost anything! She is black...
I didn't even have the thought that's what it could be until I got home and saw the puffy cheeks! All the EE's I've had before have had dark chipmunk stripes, but I just can't think of anything else that would have puffy cheeks, pea comb, and clean legs... Anyone have any other ideas? OEGB?
I picked up several feed store chicks, and so far I've been able to ID all but these two. Any ideas?
Chick 1 was picked up from the bantam bin at TSC. She (please be a girl!) is a mixture of blue, white, yellow, and hints of red. She also appears to have rather puffy cheeks, and smooth legs...
Ours usually has assorted pullets, assorted red pullets, and cornish rocks, but the day that they get the chicks in they usually have some more exciting breeds... which sell out really fast! It's an awesome way to add a little extra color to your flock.... provided you can tell what they are...
