Thanks. Grabbing some blukote in the am. We are in pensacola. Really hoping to stay on the west side of Mike! Just soggy windy wet conditions not ideal for my healing girl. Hope she stays in the coop on the roost.
If my only other option is keeping her inside, then I'll have to hope for the best. I can keep her confined alone but it will still be outside. I'll apply ointment twice a day or as others advise. Sucks we'll be in hurricane conditions for the next couple days.
Their coop is freshly cleaned...
Thanks for the tips. My BR dotty was picked up briefly by a dog this evening. One small tear about 1.5" on her very lower back and another small puncture below her vent. I wasnt home when it happened but when I arrived, she was in the coop on the roost. She drank some water and I cleaned it...
My EE out "blues" my true Ameraucana by a good margin (ee is the blue one in the photo, Ameraucana is the pale mint. They both are laying 6/7 a week, though so I can't complain. I'll get a super blue next batch of birds.
Even though she was supposed to be a red star, I like this little pullet and she laid her first egg today. As long as she doesn't go broody on me, we'll remain good buds. Lol
I loathe a broody hen. I have a bantam nankin by accident. I already don't like her because I know she'll be broody even though she hasn't even laid an egg or gone broody yet.
Mine go with the +/- 25 hr. rule. Everyday is just a little bit later than the last till they skip a day. Then the next egg is early in the am. The cycle begins again..
When my bsl missed a day laying, the next egg would be huge and had a seam in the middle like two eggs were glued together. I could never boil them because that seam split. She was healthy for two years till I rehomed her. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
My young pullet laid a normal egg, two soft and then a normal yesterday for her first 4 eggs. They have oyster shell and 18% protein feed and free range a couple hours a day. I'm not too worried about it. I think at that young age, they are just working out kinks.
