Hello, I recently bought a chick waterer base that you attach to a mason jar. However, it doesn't seem to be working for me :( First I fill up the jar then screw on the base. I then flip it over so the base is on the ground. But whenever I do this all the water just gushes out. Am I doing...
Hello, one of my 5 month old chickens is acting sick. He is lethargic, feathers ruffled, and won't eat or drink. He just stands alone. I have him separated because last year some of my chickens showed the same symptoms and died ( I lost 80% of my flock). Does anyone know what this disease is...
During the winter, I go out every morning and fill my chicken's waters with warm water and red pepper flakes. This prevents the water from freezing during and the red pepper flakes gives the chickens a warm and cozy feeling.
I live in north Idaho - where it can get quite cold here in the winter! What I do for winter is put a heat light in the coop on at night and early morning. Also, every morning after I get up I put very warm mixed with red pepper flakes in their waterers to give them a warm feeling and so it's...
My hens are free range and recently have been laying their eggs in hard to find places. How do I solve this? I've tried putting golf balls in the nest boxes but that didn't work. So how do solve this? Also, how long can eggs be left outside (I have a rooster) ? Thanks.
I was wondering how much feed I need to give my chickens each day. There are 9 of them. They are free ranging. They are egg layers. So how much should I feed them? (I used to use a feeder but goats and mice kept getting into it and eating it all up so now i have to feed the chickens by hand)...
One of my hens who is a little under a year old started pooping blood. She acts and looks normal otherwise. None of my other hens is pooping blood. What could be wrong with her and how do I solve it? Thanks.
7 of the eggs my hens was brooding recently hatched. She picks on 2 of the chicks, but none of the others. One of these 2 got picked on so bad it started bleeding so I separated them. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with these 2 chicks, they are just a different color from the rest. So...
My cochin banties were sitting on the eggs like they're supposed too. 2 of the eggs hatched today! My normal sized chickens just laid in the dirt, being lazy. Didn't bother to lay any eggs.....Break day.
Just today, one of the eggs that my hen was brooding hatched! Is it alright to separate it from the hen (put it in a box with a heat lamp)? I'm just worried it'll get hurt because 2 other of my hens like to sit in the nest box that the brooding hen sits on. Also, it can't get out of the nest...
