I haven't posted here for some time. I am still located in the northwest corner of Cherokee County, Kansas. I raise a variety of poultry. Chickens, Muscovy ducks, Call ducks, turkeys, guineas, and a few peafowl. At the present, I have an abundance of White Silkies .
I have a Black Marans hen setting on a nest full of Muscovy eggs. I kept removing her eggs. I guess she got tired of laying, and decided to set. She's in for a two week longer, than normal, set.
These two Black Copper Marans chicks hatched by a Royal Palm hen. I noticed she had abandoned her nest, and I found her, in the pasture, close to her pen. I place her 9 turkey eggs in an incubator. I have had good luck doing this with guinea eggs, so I should know the results in about 6 days.
Danz, there is a man near Wichita, who buys Muscovy ducks, but he usually wants 50. He has bought mine, for the last few years. I am about 160 miles from him, and he makes the trip. I also have more drakes, than I wanted to winter, but not near 50.
Yesterday morning, as I went out to feed my dogs, I found a lifeless baby guinea, on the porch, by the door. One of the dogs must have brought it up. It was 38 degrees, but when I picked up the baby guinea, it open an eye. I wrapped it in a towel and placed it on our floor furnace, then went...
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you all. I haven't posted much this year, due to having been hit by several wind storms, I've been trying to rebuild most of my pens.
I wasn't expecting anything purebred, as these were being sold, for $4.00 each, at that swap meet. I just can not pass up a bargain, even when it comes to poultry. But I was surprised at the dukes-mixture, of the hatch.
Last May I purchased 5 Gray Slate Turkey pullets, at a local swap meet, that were less than a week old. They were all the same color, light grey. I saved three of the five, two hens and one tom. I took pictures of them (pardon their wet feathers, as it rained 4 inches last night) and the 20...
I only have a couple of golden Polish roosters for sale. I have started some eggs in the incubator, but no chicks yet. I started last year with a trio of golden and a trio of black and white Polish, last year. I am located in the NW corner of Cherokee, county.
I get my feed at Galesburg. I was just there Monday, so it will be a week or so before I get feed again. I have brought poultry with me before, The last was a peacock.
I am in Columbus, on Wednesdays, delivering eggs. I could load a couple, for you to see. I do have them listed on other Facebook poultry sites, but no one close seems interested.
