    Air Under Skin?

I have a 3 month old hen that went quite lame. When I picked her up she had a HUGE bubble extending from her wing-pit to under her thigh. I pierced it with a sterile hypodermic and let all the air out. There was no fluid or heat, just air. No injury. Anyone ever seen this before??

How many days past hatch day do all of you leave your eggs in the 'bator? I am at day 22 and the hatch so far was six on day 20 and three on day 21. I was really hoping for a few more but I starting to question my roo's manliness :)

I carton them up and mark the date on them. Then they go in the 'fridge on the back porch and anyone that needs them can help themselves. Sometimes they leave money and sometimes not, but they get used and enjoyed.

You arrange your furniture around the brooder.

    What's in your brooder box?

I use shavings, too. They are not very absorbent, but they do keep the smell down, as my chicks usually stay in the house waaay too long :)

Do you report egg/poultry sales as income on your taxes?

Interesting! As you said, I won't be reporting it, but it is good to know how deep into our lives the IRS/government expect to get.

    Orphan baby chick, HELP!

Does it have any feathers or still just in down? How old do you think it is? The rule of thumb is that it need to be 95 degrees for the first week then decreasing temperature by 5 degrees each week after that.
