We are having swarms of Miller Moths. Trying to figure out some type of treat ball, or similar, that I could put moths in, that the chickens can eat the moths as they come out of holes.
Having UC Davis in California is definitely an awesome resource for us. They will do a comprehensive necropsy on two chickens per year, per farm or residence, for only $20 each.
I adopted four Orpingtons from the animal shelter a month ago, and sadly, introduced this disease to my existing...
Have you used this yourself? I'm' trying to figure out mites, also. In California. We never had a freeze this winter, so mite outbreak this week is massive. Have about 60 chickens, all free roaming. Need to treat over half an acre, can't catch them to treat individally, and they share all their...
I tried, but this thread is too long to read all responses. Here is my experience. I use the dog frontline plus. I put it in a syringe and drop a few drops from above. I try to get it on the skin, but seems to work even if mostly on feathers. It gets rid of mites. I don't treat every bird, but...

I keep reading that you have to vaccinate all birds at same time. I have about 50 or 60 free range chickens. Couple times a year, some of the juveniles will break with fowl pox and most die. Can I vaccinate each group of young ones as they start roaming with mom? I am guessing my adults are all...
Is there anything that can be done to help with free roaming chickens that have this. They do not have a dedicated water source to put meds in. They will not let me catch them to try to medicate or help with scabs. Last year, only one clutch of four caught it and they all died. This year there...
I work at an animal shelter and this chicky is up for adoption. I would like to add to my coop, but can't tell if rooster or hen. Has been here 6 days without an egg or a crow. Afraid to take home until I know. My rooster was rescued young from fighting stock and don't want him to kill this one.
