New to Guineas. Would like Advice. *Pics*

Hi Colourful, I am also from Australia and have Guineas, chickens and ducks all living happily together. We are in quite a cold area (not compared to our American friends though!) and they handle it no worries. They suprise me how tough they are. We get very strong winds and my birds roost in...

2 nests or hen taken? Nervously waiting!

My Guinea hen had the same reaction as yours PeepsCA. I put on the welding gloves and went to grab her and she took off like a rocket and the keets scattered everywhere! My hubby and I managed to gather them all into a small cage, much to Mums disgust, but then she followed us and her precious...

    Indian runner eggs vanished!

I have 2 Indian runners that have been sitting on a nest of eggs diligently for weeks. Today I came home and all the eggs are gone. The only trace was part of a duckling that my chook was eating! Would my chooks have eaten all the eggs? They all free range during the day. But I usually let the...

2 nests or hen taken? Nervously waiting!

Thanks for the feedback. I left the hen on the eggs because I don't have an incubator at the moment. And the nest is actually in a fairly safe place. Usually they lay out in the long grass but this one is right up against the house behind an old laying down empty gas bottle. My dog won't touch...

2 nests or hen taken? Nervously waiting!

Hi fellow guinea owners! I have a hen sitting close to the house on about 17 eggs and another hen missing. Will two hens sit on different nests at the same time or have I lost her to a fox? I have never had a hen sit before as my dog has worked out how to crack into the hard shell. Yum yum. Very...

    Chickens not growing feathers back

In some places there are still shafts of feathers sticking out. Will it make the feathers grow back if you pluck these out? Or just hurt them? I am worried that they will get sun burnt or cold. I know that sounds weird but we live in the mountains where the sun is very harsh and weather often cold.

    Chickens not growing feathers back

I have three Isa Browns that I recently got from a friend. Her roosters were giving them a hard time and have all but striped the feathers of their backs and top edge of wings. One of them has grown its feathers almost all back but the other two still have areas that are bare and look sunburnt...

    Bully Bantam Rooster

I have six standard hens and four roosters, one of which is a bantam. I hatched him with the kids but he has recently become aggressive. Started with a little dance but is now beginning to peck And scare the kids. I know my rooster hen ratio is bad, would adding more hens help? Does he need...
