That is quite a compliment you received, she is very critical, which explains why her birds are some of the best! Oh, but I see why, your boy is so beautiful!!! I love those hackles! Can’t wait to see him mature!

I hatch a lot of recessive whites from a blue gold over golds. Never had a problem keeping them alive. Perhaps they are pecked by a broody or other hen or ignored and left to die? I do have issues with my girls not accepting white chicks, if hatched themselves or not. The broodys will kill...

Yes Yes, only shipping eggs, I’m done shipping chicks. I would need another week or two, I had been worming and moving birds around so I need to wait for fertility to be what it should. I’m coastal Virginia.

Wild birds can bring it in, or you can even bring in in on your clothes or shoes from the feed store. Don’t let visitors in your chicken yard. It’s really almost impossible to keep out. Not sure what you ordered, but Denagard is supposed to be very good with no resistance, so good to treat...

This is Picasso, he’s almost 4 years old. He’s such an awesome bird, I swear he know what I say to him, listens like dog lol. I wish I could find some better pics of him, his breast really shows the splash coloring.

Just for fun, here is a woolly Svarthona pullet, I actually gave her away thinking she was a cull, later to realize what a rarity I had given up.

Definitely takes more time to get decent tails. They were way too high and not much length at all. I used standard silver and splash golden roosters, but the project would have been better with a silver non molter. They are more slim birds and could possibly produce better feathering I f2-f3

These are the only pics I can find right now, blue fibro pullet with a typical cockerel, and an awful blue cockerel (reminds me of a Mosaic). I never went further than f2. Looking back, a silver birchen Phoenix would have been a better option to use.

That’s awesome!!! Not bad for cross country lol. Can’t wait to see pics! I did a Phoenix Svarthona cross a few years ago, it was a match made in heaven! I’m sorry I didn’t pursue it further.

Yes, @Lauravonsmurf, there can be size differences between varieties and lines, as some are bred to German standard and some to Modern standard. You will see a big difference in hatchery birds and privately bred birds, and in my gold and silver lines. As varied as LF can be, most bantams are...

I feed a low corn diet. 1- it has little nutrition, 2- it creates more body heat, I live in a brutally hot area, 3- it can turn silver feathers yellow. I raise mostly silver and but I have some golden that are difficult to distinguish from a sun/corn yellowed silver. I feed 18-20% protein...

Looks like the gold chick is a golden male. Red chick is definitely pullet, gold. I never really liked white until last year. Now I want to keep every one of them!
