I recently received 4 homer pigeons from a fellow who took them off the nest at about 10-15 days old and brought them to my house and have them in a pen to get acquainted with the surroundings so once I turned them loose they will stay around. My question is how long should I keep them caged up...
Boar taint comes from uncastrated male pigs that are sexually active. This is caused by hormones in the body of the animal, which every male species of animal has and are aroused by a female in heat. I have butchered 1-2 year old male boar that has never been around a gilt or sow and had no bad...
I read you story, but have not had time to read everyones response yet, will do later on. First off, nobody on this world will ever overstep my authority of my kids, except my wife. This includes my parents, inlaws, other family. Anyone. If you and your husband pay the note, whomever is...

that is exactly how we do it. The hen takes care of the whole thing from start to finish. This year, two muscovy hens are setting on two different batches where the chickens had always laid their eggs. Now that both hens are setting, they won't let the chickes lay so the chickens had...
Put the heat to the incubator about 2hrs ago, trying to get the temperature to 99 degrees and cook supper. When I looked at the thermometer a few minutes ago temperature was at 104. In my opinion it should not make a difference, but what do y'all thin, start feeding the eggs to the pigs?

Hard to say, I know I screwed up the very first day by tweeking with the thermostat that night and not triple checking before I went to bed. Woke up the next day and the thermometer showed 109* so I was sure I had cooked them. Wife wasn't to happy with me when I told her what had...
Anyone ever used the string and screw ring (ones used to screw into screen door jams to latch the door) method? Old man showed me this and so far he's 95% accurate. Tie the string to the oval end of the screw ring and leave about 12" length of string. Grab the bird under its belly with one...
Put them together. They may let the gilt know her place, but after that they will get along. Anytime I have ever mixed any of my hogs, they usually fight each other for about ten minutes to figure out the boss then its all over. Yours may not even be old enough for them to get riled up.
Good looking pigs. Never raised herefords before. One of my blue butt sows had 20 piglets this past Thurday, best so far. Not all of them made it though.
Thanks, you gave me a good idea to try. I have a few pyramid crawfish traps I can try with. Have three holes on each side for a snake to go into. Can't believe I didn't think of that, I've caught a bunch inthe traps while rrunning crawfish
Mine have gone cannibalistic on ones that were killed by hawks are owls. By the time I found them there would be nothing left but bones and wings. Have small birds land in the chicken yard all the time and have never winessed an attack.
snake that got one of my young quail, if picture shows up
Nope, I can't download either. Used to be simple, but like everthing else, things have to get complicated...lol
This is what my wife found in the quail brooder this afternoon. When she went to grab the waterer it moved and she freaked out. She jumped backwards andkknocked over my 9yr old boy. He went for his bb gun but didn't have any bb's to shoot with. Wife took it out with a hoe. That's the 8-9th...
Believe wife gets them from Tractor Supply. She actually buys them for our little girl to braid her horses main. I was trying to figure a way to tell difference between male/female doves at a glance when I thought of color coded rubber bands on their legs. Just kept using on quail to...
