Snakes are my biggest concern for my girls and me, too! My brother sent me an article this morning on an easy snake trap, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post the link. So, if someone can verify that I can make the post, then I'll add the link:) It's homemade, so not something commercial that has to be bought as a trap.

I posted it on the Texas thread and got warned from the moderators so I won't post the link again. Basically a man took two wire minnow traps, tied their tops together so the baskets look like a ball, put some eggs inside, and placed it near his coop. Snakes got in and couldn't get back out. Once trapped, you have options with what to do with the snake.
 
Thanks, you gave me a good idea to try. I have a few pyramid crawfish traps I can try with. Have three holes on each side for a snake to go into. Can't believe I didn't think of that, I've caught a bunch inthe traps while rrunning crawfish
