    Show me your quail pens!!!

@Jkraft I've gotten away from quail by building an aviary and adding chickens. It was inevitable I think. My quail never used the branches at all.

    Happy quail cages designs?

Mine is a high as it is so I can go inside of it. I disnt want to have to squat when i went in to clean or refull food and water containers. It did seem empty because of the height so I added a few doves that needed a home. They ccame from a cage that didn't give them room to fly, so they seem...

    Happy quail cages designs?

I think that an "airlock" would be an awesome idea. I built my aviary from plans that are only found within my head. This means that after building it I realized all kinds of things that I could have done different. I have 4 white doves in my aviary that I have to make sure to look out for...

    Happy quail cages designs?

This is what I started with before I became an addict It wasn't long until I was on a building frenzy I go in there and change things from time to time simply for my own aesthetic pleasure. The Quail seem to love it, and the 4 doves are getting along fine in there it seems.

Any tips for a beginner raising Coturnix quail?

I don't have a time age limit for that. When they come out of the brooder, they go in with all the others. 3-4 weeks-ish.

Any tips for a beginner raising Coturnix quail?

I have a 7 by 10 pen set up with about 25 coturnix in it. When I add new ones to the flock, I just put them in there and they always do fine.

    Eating dove eggs?

I have 4 doves in a large pen with some quail. The quail lay all the time but I only get one or two dove eggs a month. I thought about boiling the dove eggs along with the quail eggs just to see if they were any good. After reading this, I am going to give it a shot and see what's what.

    Can't get them to breed!!!!!

I have the same issue with a rabbit that I rescued. A buddy of mine knows I have a soft heart for critters so he gave me a male gray fox rabbit that wasn't interested in females. We laugh about him being gay, but he gets along just fine with my quail and doves. I don't think he is interested in...

very weird thing i've heard about giving pigeons bleach please help

When I was in the army on my first deployment to Kurdistan the drinking water that was trucked in to us had to be treated. We added bleach to it and drank it for months. We would add a minimum of one bleach bottle cap full five gallons. Our water specialist swore by it, and we appear to all have...

    DIY waterer for quail?

Ok. Now I totally get what you mean. It would be a great idea if I go on vacation or something. I do actually plan on taking one of those some day. Both the feeder and waterer that I use now are small, but I would need something like this if I am not going to be able to check on them daily. I...

    DIY waterer for quail?

From the pic I have in my head of what you are saying, it should work. As long as all the water doesn't drain out as soon as it is hooked up. The bucket will have to have an air tight lid on it too. If the hose is below the full line of the tray, air shouldn't be able to enter into the hose...

    DIY waterer for quail?

Sians, I have a small "smart water" bottle in my soda bottle waterer. It is working fine. With 10 birds in the pen, I only have to fill it every three days. Here is a pic of my set up. Doves on top, Quail on bottom. It works well so far.

    Quail and doves

I did an amazon search for "game chick feeders" and I don't know if what I am finding is what You're talking about. I am going to read more in here and try to fund something new, but at this point what I have is working pretty good.

    Quail and doves

Well geez. I like the idea of a live plant, but I don't want to kill the birds. It is getting closer to the weekend and I want to do something. I looked at the feed store here and decided on not getting any new birds. I will try to get the doves to do their thing. I don't know what my male to...

    Quail and doves

I was thinking about putting some ivy in there once it started to warm up a Little. Ivy does well in shadey ares and once it takes its pretty tough, but I don't think it would do well if it were to freeze again, and most likely it will. I was thinking about hanging it kind of in the middle and...

Jak, The reason I want to Addie birds is because my pen seems empty. After reading what you have to say I think I just going to let the doves do their thing and get some more doves that way. Thanks for he input. Everyone on here is so helpful.

    Quail and doves

Jak, Yes, I made it myself. it was pretty easy. If you were closer, I would help you make one and not charge you a thing. Well, maybe a beer or two. I have only been a homeowner for about a year, and since then I have pretty much gotten this DIY thing down pat. I would love to add some other...
