    Silkie housing

I have 5 silkies that are nearing one month of age. Ive been told that they do not roost and need a secure dry area. Are there any other things to consider when housing silkies? Im thinking I would like to build them something small similar to a chicken tractor. Any tips or ideas you have to...

She only has a few tail feathers left. She also seems to be quite timid and obviously lower in the pecking order here...

I recently purchase 5 hens from a friend. How long will it take them to acclimate to their new home and recover from the stress of moving before they begin laying? My 7 year old daughter is so disappointed that she hasn't found an egg yet even though I have told her the chickens are still...

my dog does stay out all night. And she barks at everything, she loves people but really doesn't like other animals. We put the chickens on the other side of the yard with a storage building blocking the dogs view of them. I don't believe we have weasels here. And I haven't seen a coon or possum...

My first post- my first coop/run

Dogs, hawks are probably the main ones. We get snakes in the summer, but I haven't seen one on our property in over 2 years. The top is completely closed in with a double layer of shade cloth, the sides have a layer of poultry net between the chain link and the tarp. The tarp is a heavy duty...

My first post- my first coop/run

Im picking up my hens on wednesday. We are hanging nesting boxes and finishing them up this evening, they won't be the crates in the picture. The water will hang in a corner near the front and the food will hang dead center. Please don't be too harsh, as we ran out of time due to have 20...
