Sorry, just read about your power problems. Maybe open up the hole just a little bit and see if you can see any of the inside vessels and go from there
When my were hatching and I was nervous I googled it and it can take up to 24 hours. I had a few that were about 11 or 12 hours which was so nerve wracking! So I would say wait unless you feel there is a problem. You can do more harm then good.
The first hatch is always so nerve racking. I haven't helped any hatch. All mine that started finished. I would have helped if they needed it but I know you have to be really careful that the inside of the egg is dried up and absorbed or they will bleed out. Good luck!
Hi, My friend has a very frisky (wink wink) Khaki Campbell she needs to re-home. Local pick-up only. He is friendly when alone and with people, just can't leave the ladies alone! LOL. If you are interested I can get you a photo. He is about 3 years old.
Thanks!
3 out of 4 of my girls have these black marks. Is it peck marks? They are all laying now and get mad when "their" box is taken that they prefer. The one that doesn't have them is the dominant one. Thank you!
you need a rooster to umm...Be friendly with her to fertilize and hatch eggs. A gen will hatch and mother any eggs if she is broody and determined. Some will not do it, some will sit on them for a while and give up and some will go the whole 21+ days. Depends on her stamina and determination...
he is the same age as mine I hatched them at the same time, born around Jan 1st. I don't know if he has started to crow (I haven't heard him) but I will ask my neighbor when I see him next

Thanks! We do not have any cougars around. We do have coyotes but I don't think they have come in our backyard. I do have a covered patio and that is where I was thinking of keeping them. Thanks again
Dang it. It got messy last time we had them in the house...the dust and little feathers ended up everywhere! I was hoping I could keep them outside. We don't have a garage, barn or shed to put them in. Thanks!
Hi, I am doing my 2nd hatch and was wondering if anyone puts their brooder box outside? Mine has a latch I can lock it with but we do have raccoons, opossums and cats in the area. Do you think they would scare or torment the chicks? Below is picture of the box which is currently storing my hay...
This is what I sent...
Hi Aaron, thank you for your reply. I think I got him a home, but my next door neighbor has a Rhode island red that he will have to find a new home for once he starts crowing much. Where do you live? Thanks again. My girls want to find nice homes for them and yours sounds...
