Eating eggs after treating with wormer

How long so you wait to eat the eggs again after you give your chickens wormer? I just treated them today by adding the wormer to their water. I heard anywhere from 30 days, to 14 days to go ahead and keep eating them.

    Runny Eggs

Thank you for your advice. I will keep an eye on her and add supplements to her diet if necessary. Maybe it is just a glich and she will start to lay some good eggs soon.

    Runny Eggs

No I did not give her oyster shell but she does get egg laying food. My other chickens are eating the same thing and they lay eggs just fine. Does she have something wrong with her? She is a little neurotic (sp?). She is a very nervous chicken.

    who laid this egg?

I have 2 RIR and one lays a dark brown and one lays a light brown just like in your picture. The dark brown will sometimes have speckles. the light brown will vary sometimes in shades. My EE always lay light blue eggs.

    Runny Eggs

I did not get a picture but I will try. It is a soft shell with a solid yolk. No diarrhea. She eats and poops fine.

    Runny Eggs

I know this question has been addressed before but being a new egg I still have to ask about this. My chicken, Baby (my 2 1/2 year old named her) who is kind of neurotic anyway (the chicken, not my kid), was laying for a couple of weeks. This is the only time she has ever laid. Now she has...

    Question on being broody

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I might try a little of both. After she lays her egg in the nestboxes I'm going to let her out. I'll watch her and if the chicken crosses the road (ha. ha.) she will be stuck in the coop.

    Best Winter Treat Ever

Mine have been loving venison burger (raw), yogurt and cabbage hanging in the coop. They turned their beaks up at oatmeal. Who doesn't like oatmeal?

Do you feed indside or outside the coop?

Mine free range so in the summer so then I feed them outside. The winter I feed inside. If I want to give them yogurt or some meat scrapes (they LOVE venison burger raw) I put it in a large bowl so it won't be too messy in the coop.

    Heated Dog Bowl as Waterer

I just bought one of these as well and it does work great. It said not to use an extension cord with it but it was the only way to get it to an electrical outlet. The girls love it. I make sure to add vitamins to the water as well. It has never frozen. I don't know what it will do to my...

    Question on being broody

O.k. so my chicken Peep just went through being broody. She stayed in the nestboxes all day. Now, my chicken Popcorn has gone broody. But she prefers to lay all of her eggs in a bush - NEXT DOOR! I found 8 frozen eggs at my neighbors. She loves to free range, snow, sleet, rain. She is out. I...

    Chicken Names!

We let our kids name the chickens. My 2 year old named his Rhode Island Red... Baby, my 4 year old named his Rhode Island Red... Popcorn, my 6 year old named her Chochin... Peep. I named my Chochin... Henny Penny and since my husband hates chickens we gave him our our dumb (but we love her!)...

    Chickens and Raked Leaves

Quote: I live in Michigan where it does get cold. I guess the leaf situation depends of your coop design. My coop floor is dirt and not so big so I just spot clean it with a pooper scooper and use a little rake to keep things tidy. I only have 7 chickens so it's not too bad and they get to...

    never seen this before..

A sparrow got caught inside our coop and when I looked in on them Rockstar, our Polish Frizzle, was pecking the heck out of it. It was a little more animal planet than I wanted to see. Today I saw our araucana picking at a dead bird. I had heard chickens can become canivors. Is that true?

    Chickens and Raked Leaves

I just wanted to pass along that I decided to put some raked leaves on the bottom of the coop floor (right now it is dirt) and the girls seem to love it! I had read an article that said in the winter it's nice to put a "bedding" down if you have a dirt floor because it gets cold for them to...

    question about washing eggs ????

I wash my eggs with warm water and a little dishsoap then dry them off and have never noticed a "soapy flavor." I'm also new to this egg business as well but with 3 small children I worry about the bacteria so I would rather be safe than sorry.

Help! My chicken won't come out of the coop!

Hey thanks folks. I'm new to all of this chicken stuff. She does puff up at me when I go to get her out of her nestbox. Broody makes so much sense! Why do they go broody? Will the other chickens follow ?

Help! My chicken won't come out of the coop!

I have 7 free ranging chickens of different breeds. My little white cochin named Peep won't come out of the nest boxes. She has been free ranging all summer with the rest of the flock and now I have to get her out of the coop in the morning just to go feed. She eats a little then goes right back...
