    To separate or not..

You could try a chicken saddle. I did that with one of my roosters favorites and it worked great. She got used to it within a few minutes then never seemed to give it another thought.

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

I could try taking the hen out and giving her some time alone, then bringing her back before I get rid of him. I do like him and I like whatever security he provides for my hens. I actually have the 2 hens and the rooster that are the 'original' chickens. Should I take the other hen out at...

Dog Questions! Do they get along with chickens, what food do you feed, breed, and more!!!

I have a boglin terrier (half bosten terrier, half beagle). I feed him Iams dog food, which is middle of the road price wise- at least at Petsmart. My sister swears by blue buffalo which is a little higher in price and has no grain in their product. Murphy is a great dog now but when he was...

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

Okay, thank you! I will be having both the top hen and the rooster go on a little Christmas vacation. Hers will be round trip, he's only going to get a one way ticket. Wish me luck! And Merry Christmas to everyone :)

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

I started out with 5 chicks and three of them turned out to be roosters. I absolutely loved one of them but he was a really aggressive to the other chickens and the other would try to flog me as I walked away from him..so yeah, he didn't stay. I had high hopes for Mr. Fluffy but I am really at...

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

Okay thanks, guess I knew he would have to go..was hoping maybe there was a magic fix. I don't think my coop is too small, I have a 6x6 coop and a old dog kennel, think it's 6x12 for the pen and they get free range time close to every afternoon.. I will get rid of him and try to go...

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

That is more or less what I've been thinking too. I wanted a rooster for the added protection when they free range but I don't want my hens to be miserable..

Keep the rooster or get rid of him???

Okay folks, I need some advice. I have 8 chickens-5 pullets, 2 hens that aren't currently laying and a rooster. The pullets are new to my flock. I got them after I had a hen die on me. To get the 2 groups used to each other I had the pullets in my large coop/run and the others in a tractor...

Save all the good bugs you find while gardening to give to the girls. Yuck! Especially the grubs

    What are your rooster's names?

My rooster is named Mr. Fluffy. He started out as just fluffy but got the Mr. when we discovered him crowing...he's a beauty and my favorite. Here is a pic with him watching over some of my hens and cat while they dust bathe
