My "finished" chicken coop and run.

I don't have a router so I rigged up my circular saw to do what I needed. This is the only picture I have of this part of the window build, unfortunately it was starting to get dark outside. You are looking at an 8' 1"x2" with two trenches cut side by side int the narrow end. In the...

My "finished" chicken coop and run.

I *really* wanted to be on the tour, but things didn't get finished up in time this year. Also while my coop is looking good, the rest of my yard is not. Hopefully by time the tour comes around next year we will be good to go. We will definitely be going on the tour to see other coops though.

My "finished" chicken coop and run.

We just have the three right now. A buff orpington, an americauna, and a rhode island red. We are thinking about getting another 3 next year, and maybe a few more the year after that.

My "finished" chicken coop and run.

Yea I had the same problem, I kinda 'went with the flow' until it made sense. The most logical size pane of glass that home depot sold was 10" x 12", so that determined the size of my window (plus a bit of width for the frame). Once I built those windows, I held them up to the side of the coop...

My "finished" chicken coop and run.

I am not sure that I will ever truly be finished but I am definitely done for a while now. My coop is based on plans purchased from http://www.thegardencoop.com/ and then tweaked in a few ways to suit my tastes. Here we see our three hens and my livestock guard dog in-training Mosley...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

Spray painting the wire is an interesting thought, but I think the cost of spray paint and the time investment would mean that I'd rather buy the coated wire. For me the black coated wire is about looks, I think it looks better than the regular galvanized wire. It is also used by a local maker...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

Thanks a lot LoveOfChicken, those are both cheaper options than what I found. In fact the first link (Academy Fence) also has 50' and 25' rolls available, which is perfect for me as I need about 65' in total. Ordering those two rolls + shipping works out to be about $200 Hooray!

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

This is pretty much what I am looking for: http://www.twpinc.com/control/product?product_id=002X002D0410W48TBLK&productCategoryId=TWPCAT_BLK $260 + $88 for shipping, $348 total. This is the best price for me so far.

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

I was just poking around there trying to find coated wire, I found green, but not black (which is what I am hoping to find).

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

They were much much higher than that. Welded Wire Mesh, VC, 16 gauge, 1/2"x1" mesh, 48"x100' - Black: $586.77 It was not clear wether or not that price included shipping, but I would hope it does. It is worth mentioning that their product was a thicker gauge, and PVC Vinyl coated, but either...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

I've seen dozens of coops (they do a coop tour in my town every year) and I know that the 1/2" x 1/2" hardware cloth doesn't 'block' your view, I just found that some of the coops with larger holed fencing were less obtrusive looking, and I was trying to find a compromise. I have a small yard...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

What a bummer. I really wanted to be able to go with 1" x 1/2". I guess I will start pricing out 1/2" x 1/2" (Louis Page that I checked earlier seemed too high) Thank you everyone for participating.

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

I have been looking around trying to find evidence of a raccoon's paw reaching through such a small hole. This is as close as I have come: However it would appear from this photo that the raccoon would not have been able to reach through had there not been such a large vertical gap. Also...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

Quote: Quote: Are we talking about 1" x 1" wire? or the 1" x 1/2" wire? It seems to me that a raccoon could definitely fit is paw through a 1" x 1" hole as you mentioned. 1" x 1/2" is half the size of that, and a skinny rectangle instead of a square. Quote: I have requested a...

Looking for a definitive answer, 1/2" x 1/2" welded wire mesh vs. 1/2" x 1" welded wire mesh

We just got our first three birds, and I am in the process of gathering the raw materials to build their coop (based off the coop from http://thegardencoop.com). In my experience visiting many coops on the local coop tour, I have found a couple things to be true: 1) Black coated wire mesh...
