    baby needs identity

I say max of 4-5 days old (at least at the time of the photo) And it looks like you have 2 Pekins, 2 Rouens, and 2 Silver Appleyard Ducklings (or possibly muscovy mutts, but I doubt it coming from TSC) Great mix of ducks!!! Have fun!

    Meet the duckling fishes

So adorable!! One of my favorite part of raising ducklings... letting them swim in my bathtub "Normal" people would be shocked at the things that have been in our bathroom (and kitchen)
  6. DucksnDaffodils

Can someone tell me what these might be?

    I still say Welsh Harlequins!
  7. DucksnDaffodils

What is the fate of your ducks?

I've done both. I have some ducks that I started out for pets ish. but then morphed into keeping them for eggs. (I have Welsh Harlequins) But I have also raised multiple batches of Pekins throughout the years, for meat. And yes they're fun, but I know I'm raising them for a purpose so I haven't...

Need help Identifying my TC Ducks

They do kind of look like dark Campbells... And is it just me, or does it look like you have a drake and a hen? Sorry, don't have any other ideas.
  9. DucksnDaffodils

Can someone tell me what these might be?

Oh yes! Those are for SURE Welsh Harlequins. They're beautiful!! And if they are pure bred (and they look like it) then I'm 75% sure that they are both girls!!

General (male Pekin) mating too much -- when will it stop??

As far as I have experienced, it is seasonal. I had a Pekin, and yes he did mate year round.. but not crazy every minute like for a few months in the spring. SOooo.. I'd say that he SHOULD slow down and behave himself after the mating season is over....
  12. DucksnDaffodils

    My ducklings are so afraid/flighty.

Peas are a good treat (thawed frozen peas) and meal worms are good treats too. At this point since they're scared of you I would put the treats in a dish but stand as near as they'll let you and still come, and then slowly get closer and closer, then maybe hold the pan, and then work towards...

    Considering ducks....

Have to comment... because I have ducks and we just moved to 10 acres that has a marsh over a hill and down through some woods. I currently keep my ducks in a little house in a small pen up by the chicken coops (I know people house them together.. I just don't personally) but I just started...

    Breed of ducklings

    I saw that... too cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. DucksnDaffodils

New to ducks. Can you help me guess the breed?

Yes. I'd say it's a White Chinese Goose. But not positive on that. Ducklings are smaller, have rounder heads and flatter round little beaks.
  17. DucksnDaffodils

New to ducks. Can you help me guess the breed?

    Yeah they are DEFINITELY Geese.

    Duck Identification

Oh ok! I've never had Cayuga's, so you would know more than me!! But I'm still saying the first one is a Crested Blue Sweedish This is not the best photo, and not mine.. but here's a pic of a crested blue sweedish.
  19. DucksnDaffodils

New to ducks. Can you help me guess the breed?

Uuummmmmm Those look like Goslings not ducklings. I'm afraid you just bought a bunch of Geese. They are adorable though!
  20. DucksnDaffodils

    My ducklings are so afraid/flighty.

Ducks are just more independent and flighty when there is more than 1 of them. The nature of a duck, is an intense herd animal. So if you only have one they will imprint on you and follow you everywhere! But if you have a bunch of them, they tend to be happy with themselves and be skittish...
