Can anyone give me a pointer for cleaning out my watered? Mine is mostly a permanent fixture and has an outi filler attached to it. What I think might need cleaning is the algae that grows on the bucket sides.
If the algae is not an issue I won't worry about it.
Thanks in advance.
I just replaced the nipples with the watering cups. Not a drop on the ground. A bonus is the gurgling and smacking sounds that they make when drinking. I also added a float to fill their bucket. No more running out if water. Yay!!!!

That is exactly what I had in mind. I actually picked up a piece of the 10' drain pipe and will put it together this weekend. Thanks everyone for all the replies and suggestions. I'll post a pic when done.
The sealer that I used worked great. I don't think it will work for what I think you want to do. This sealer causes the wood to turn silver/gray like cedar does as it ages. This is also absorbed by the wood and does not cover the surface. Sorry fir the delay in responding.
Has anyone used or heard about using ABS pipe for use as a chicken feeder? This is the black plastic pipe that is usually used for drains. I've been looking for PVC in 4" size but have only found ABS or PVC drain that has a black lining in it which also looks like ABS.
Thanks for any info...
Hi all, as you can see I have just added a nipple water to our coop. The girls took to it immediately, but as you can see water is getting everywhere. The nipples are not dripping fast but is there anything I can do about this?
As some of you have these inside the coop I assume either I have...
Hi I'm new here and to chickens. I tried to search for this answer, but could not find anything - way too much to read post by post. So I apologize if this is redundant.
I am wanting to protect our garden plants from the always nibbling beeks that cruise our yard. Does anyone have any...
As of now here is what I've been a le to do:

I got asphalt roofing shingles and paper free from Freecycle - great online community
I got a 3-4 gal food grade plastic bucket for free from Vons - Bakery for an...
Thank you for all the replies. My wife found a product from Canada called "Lifetime Wood Preservative". It is all natural and is maintenance free. Can be used in gardens or anywhere.
Has anyone heard of this or used it? We purchased 2 gal from amazon and will be trying it out. I will keep you...
Hi Folks, I'm building my coop right now and need to find a sealer for the frame that I can get locally like at HD or Lowes. Would prefer something rather permanent so I don't need to worry about the bottom of the wood that is in contact with the concrete blocks rotting too quickly. Also needs...
Thanks fit the reply. The main water was accidentally left out of the run for a few minutes. And sure enough some of them found the nipple waterers. Once I put the water bowl back in they went for the easy water source. I also think I need to add more nipples as there was a waiting line...
