We hatched 11 of 12 with 35 to 45% the first 18 and nearly 80% the last 3. We go in and out of the bator a lot so we keep it high at the end.

    What do geese really need?

We had them in MN while I was growing up. They didn't get a pond but had a large enough kiddie type pool they could climb in and out of. I don't remember the breed

Will My Cracked Egg Still Hatch?

we came home after camping last weekend to find some issues. The temp was up to 103 and one of 2 peahen eggs was severely damaged. Of course, nobody, young adult children who stayed home, knows what happened. Stabilized temps back to 100 and used our daughters nail polish to repair the damaged...

this is our pullet at just over 5 weeks. She isn't even close to what a FBCM is supposed to look like from what we've been told on here. Mary likes her a lot so we are keeping her for dark eggs. We have 11 two week olds in the brooder.

her parent stock laid dark eggs but she just has a lot of copper in her so we aren't worried about egg color

Our loan hen we bought is off color too. We hatched 11 out of 12 eggs almost two weeks ago so hopefully they will look right.

MAY 2016 "Land of the Free Because of the brave!" Hatch-a-Long Hosted by, Mike & Sally

4 of these hatched this morning. We are setting eggs again next weekend. Currently we are waiting on 4 late eggs to hatch. In the interim we are hand turning 2 peacock eggs which are nearing a week since set. With a little luck we'll have 3 hatches in May.

80 % hatch rate as day 21 officially comes to a close. 4 eggs remain unpipped. We candled them and they look alive without an internal pip. Veins are still able to be seen near the edge of the air sack. We are wondering if maybe their area of the bator was just a tad cooler? Will candle them...

I don't know all the models but I do believe the Sportsman is a cabinet bator. We have 11 out of 22 hatched today so far. Our worst case scenario is 50%.....yay! Surprisingly our FBCMs are hatching like crazy. I think there are only 3 left to hatch out of 11 that we had at lockdown. The Blue...

one of my buddies, and an experienced hatcher, said he noticed a lot more blood and veins at hatch time as well as more failures when he ran lower temps.

    Incubators Anonymous

Sorry to hear that, Ralphie. We are both originally from MN, just an FYI. We are running what is apparently one of the worst incubators. The LG9300. We had 90% the first run and just hit day 21, with our fibgera crossed, on the second run. We did add a fan and that has helped keep temps even. We...

a few things could have caused the to fsil. They could have had thick shells, too little or too much humidity...IOO. In our opinion, anyway. We jave. Hatched early today and 4 pipped a bit early.

Humidity Question - First time hatching eggs

We are meddlers too. The lone hatched chick is already in a brooder. We've got a FBCM egg pipped about an hour ago. As was just said, be calm and do what feels right for you. Look at the he said she said thread. Whatever works for you, works for you. We run basically dry for 18 days and then...

Humidity Question - First time hatching eggs

That is a judgement call on when to assist. The hatched chicks will dry out just fine. It can take up to 24 hours from pip to zip with some chicks. I just had one pip and zip in 5 hours and it is a day early. I just think since it was the smallest egg it warmed faster and developed quicker. No...

Humidity Question - First time hatching eggs

A quick way to up the humidity without opening the Bator for very long is to use warm water on a couple of paper towels. Crumple them into a loose wet ball and put them in quickly. The humidity jumps quickly doing that
