I did. I got the humidity at 65-70% but then the temp went down to 97 or so. I had to get the temp back up, which I did after a few hours. They were alive after that hiccup, I saw the egg move/rolling and that is what has me stumped. I did look inside and it didn't look like either one had...
I started letting mine out for 10-15 min when they were 1 week old, then increased time. I only let them in my greenhouse though, where it is very warm! They love it :)
I have pics and some questions :)
So I had 2 that didn't hatch but were fully formed and alive on day 20. They were gorgeous too and I'm so sad :( What could have gone wrong? Neither had internal pips that I could see, and they didn't look dried out inside.
Here are all the little...
I think I'm liking my LG too. It seemed pretty steady all throughout until I added more humidity at the end, then it sorta went weird on me.
GL with the Turkens!
Our hatch is done! Out of 12 eggs, 11 were fertile and went into lockdown. Of those 11 I got 3 Black Copper Marans, 2 Blue Copper Marans and 4 Olive Eggers (Ameraucana/Marans). So 9/12 is pretty good for my 2nd hatch!
I'll post pics soon, once they've all fluffed up. One little chick took...
You've probably gotten much better answers then I could give you already, but to answer your question I have my humidity at 65-70% and my temp is 99.5˚-100˚
I've read to keep temps on the low end of the range to account for the increased body heat from hatched chicks.
I'm nervous too, it's my...
Lockdown started yesterday for us!
I had 12 to start, one was not fertile, the other 11 fertile/growing. One cracked but I sealed it with wax right away, hopefully it's okay. I Have 10 hopefulls... not to bad.
Good luck everyone!
I'm really happy with my eggs so far! As of day 7 I have 11 of 12 that are for sure developing! I can see movement in 7 with veins and the other 4 are dark with air cells developing so I know there is something happening. The 1 egg that is still a little clear does have something going on...
I couldn't help it and candled last night (day 5) and was pleasantly surprised! Almost all the eggs are developing, most have darker shells so I can't see veins but I do see some nice looking embryos starting. My Blue Copper Marans aren't doing much sadly, but maybe I'm not seeing it just yet...
Thanks for the encouragement! I lost 21 eggs (1/2 were infertile) but still, it was sad! I got one little chick out of them and I think it's a rooster...what luck.
Hey, I'm waiting on an April hatch too. I have 12 eggs set today and are due on the 23rd. There are 6 Copper Marans, 2 Blue Marans and 4 Olive Eggers. This is my 2nd time incubating eggs (first hatch I only got one little guy) fingers crossed cause I really want some chickens!
Here is our one little chick that has hatched so far!
I hope this means the other 11 still have a good chance, none of them are giving any signs yet and we are on day 22/23
