    Great Turkey Taming Trick

The grasshoppers around here avoid the turkey pen. I can not chase them in that direction and the ones that i catch fly away as soon as they are dropped in the pen. You are very good at catching grasshoppers, it took me forever to catch the 1st one using a net.

Thanks for the offer of purple seeds. I would love to have a few. Would you like some white in exchange or just the postage and handling?

The great thing about BYC is the broad knowledge of the members. I am sure someone knows what this is called.

    Quick question about lockdown..

No leave them in the turner, it is better to keep the eggs in one position. When they are laying on the screen the first hatched will knock the other eggs around and make it more difficult for them to stay in a hatching position.

PLEASE HELP. Opened egg on day 25. *graphic photos*

I can not tell exactly how developed they were when they died. It may have been too much humidity but I would not expect that in Nevada. If you can not control it, the only way to prevent humidity problems it to monitor the weight loss or size of the air space in the future. After 22 days you...

can turkeys be confined by 4' fence

Quote: Agreed, but netting is only to keep them in. If you need to keep out predators you need something stronger on top of the run.

Question: Am i looking for turkeys?

No, you are looking for another kind of bird. A turkey can easily clear a 6 foot fence.

Need a pair of Royal Plam Turkeys for Christmas in N. ARK

I have a Royal Palm Tom that I do not want to keep past breeding season but that won't help you because there is 1000 miles and a border between us. I suspect the personality yours had was because he was raised from a very young age. They are easy to tame when you hatch them and handle them and...

    Selling Turkeys for Thanksgiving

I am a little off topic but a local supermarket had turkeys on sale for 79c per pound. How can anyone make a profit on that? My wife thinks I am crazy for buying a trio of Royal Palms for $100. What can I tell her?

    turkey question!!!

In most places you need a permit to raise wild turkeys. The habitat is the key to their survival once released. Make sure that the habitat is suitable for more turkeys before you even think about introducing more turkeys to it.

    Feeding chickens and turkeys together

I fed them chicken grower ration and the turkeys did fine. I had the turkeys in their own brooder and fed them medicated turkey starter until they were 7 weeks old. They also all got lots of leftovers and treats. The practice of keeping chickens and turkeys together is not recommended by the...

    Post your new 2010 Turkeys

Here are my 6 week old Narragansettes taking a siesta on the fence. They were flying all over the neighborhood so the pen now is covered with mesh. They are too tame and not afraid of anything. One flew over to a neighbor looking for treats and the other neighbor's little dog got another but I...
