Nubby, our week old turkey, is developing a crossed beak pretty quickly. I have read the other threads about cross beak and found that you can use a Dremel tool to help with it. My question is would I Dremel the top, the bottom, or both so that they line up a little better.
This is Nubby...
Last year I got 3 silkies from Northern Star Mills and they were all boys as well. Maybe there is some unwritten law that says you can't have silkie hens in Chico
I have a farm innovators 4200. So far It's been holding a steady temp and humidity. Although the lowest humidity I am able to achieve is ~50%. That is with one small reservoir filled. The humidity here has been crazy low at ~5-10% so i had to put some water in. I think all is going well so far...
Is it normal to have the humidity as high as it is in the chart? This is my first time hatching anything so I'm totally freaked out that I'm going to mess them up.
I would move her first. Then see if she accepts chicks. Or you could try confining them upstairs with food and water. I wouldn't count on the chicks knowing enough not to fall off the ledge especially when they get a little bigger and chase each other around.
Wow that ice storm looks like it's going to take a while to clean up. And here I was going to complain that it's sunny but a little too windy go out and work on the new coop. I guess it's pretty nice in California.
Did you call the post office? I got mine from them today. All healthy. I worried about Easter too but it didn't seem to make a difference.
yeah maybe I should read the whole post before I comment...good luck I hope they will be ok...
I thought it said eggs instead of legs so here are pictures of the legs and eggs.
The guy at the feed store said it was a Welsummer but I was looking at pictures and she didn't really look like one. The same guy told me 2 years later that some black silkies were buff orpingtons.
I just...
This is Boomer. I got her at the feed store about 3 yrs ago. I am not positive but I think she lays dark brown eggs.
She is camera shy so this is the best picture I could get of her.
Thanks
I am glad to hear the chicken moat works. Mine is currently under construction along with the new coop. Mine will surround the garden. When I tell people I am putting in a chicken moat they just look at me like I'm crazy. One person asked if the chickens would swim in it.
You could always use straw if the gaps are too big for pine shavings. Or you could also put down some screen under the shavings so that they wouldn't fall through.
I've been lurking for a couple years now. We recently got a little land on the edge of town. So, of course, I need more chickens!!
More land + More chickens = a bigger coop ...right?! With a growing flock and new coop construction underway, I figured I'd have bunch of questions. And who better...
