I posted this on the general duck forum, but I thought maybe you guys could help too. Me and Misty could really use some advice.

I have a three year old female mallard who recently (about a month ago) started quacking all the time throughout the day starting at 6 am. She was raised by me with no other ducks. She seems to have started liking my mother most and doesn't particularly want much attention from me, and quacks...
All three of my outside ducks have those (I think they're called lobes) They just feel like a flap of skin. I'm pretty sure they're normal as long as they aren't causing them any discomfort and don't feel like they're full of liquid. When I flip my ducks on their backs the "lobes" disappear.
Thank you all for the help and advise! I will tell her these ideas, last I heard she "has a good plan for now" but I don't know what that is. They live in a trailer on this woman's property, so maybe she has electricity.. I don't know, but I know they are pretty broke and I don't think they are...
My moms coworker called her this morning asking what to do about two ducklings that mother got killed by a skunk this morning. They don't have electricity and she said she has hot water bottles for them and they're nestled on her chest. She obviously can't do that 24/7. I'm not sure what to...
I found out a weird food Misty likes last night... cupcake batter! I was making cupcakes and had just stuck them in the oven and was spooning the batter out of the bowl, she was begging so I let her try it expecting to see her fling it around the kitchen in disgust. But no, she ate it and begged...
I thought I was the only one with a weird anti-water duck! Misty sits in the tub and QUACKS loud, after a few minutes she'll just jump out and then go straight for the dogs water dish and bathe in that. she's such a weirdo. But she loves the lake and river as long as we're swimming with her...
I thought I would share some photos of our most recent adventure with Misty.
At the beach on the edge of a cliff, don't worry I only let go of her for the pic!
On a walk at the same beach
And up on a fence getting a good view.
I might be rescuing a Muscovy at the local duck pond that has a wound/infection on his face tomorrow if I can catch him! The whole left side of his face is swollen and his eye is winced. What type of antibiotics can I get at the feed store, how do I administer and what dose? If I'm able to catch...
Oh my gosh! Bean is too cute, her derpiness makes her even cuter!
I should post more photos of Misty, she hates the camera though and every pic is of her running away with her mouth open!
We may be taking Misty to the river today! I put her in a backpack with her head poking out on the walk there and have her in her walking harness when she's out. We go to the beach, rivers, camping... all over the place! She loves it and it's really fun camping and swimming with her. A walking...
It's a little past keeping an eye on her, this has been going on since October. Almost everyday (except when she was broody) she lays around with her tail bobbing and looking horribly uncomfortable and in pain for several hours. When she isn't doing this she acts perfectly fine and healthy! She...
I have a year old Mallard that has been laying soft-ish eggs for the past several months, we've gone to the vet several times and they thought it was a calcium deficiency and wanting to go broody. So, I let her sit on infertile eggs for 28 days and gave her an extra 2,000 mg of 97% pure calcium...
Misty isn't into snuggling unfortunately. :( I think she's just a little more independent than most house ducks though. Although she is pretty quiet, surprisingly. She only ever quacks if she doesn't know where I am. She is a very sassy little duck that doesn't take crap form no one! Chases the...
I'd love to try but I'm not sure how she would react, she hates other ducks. If she reacted well and wanted to brood them I would have multiple house ducks and I don't know if I could manage that! My main concern would be her losing her bond with me, she's never been super dependant even though...
Oh, I forgot about this thread, sorry! Misty is currently sitting on eggs and hasn't been laying, we're hoping that having this break of laying and giving extra calcium will do the trick. It was in fact a different egg each time (I kind of feel like an idiot for being so persistent that it...
I showed Misty one of her rubber duckies and this is what happened!
I think I may have to get a duckling or two when it's time for her infertile eggs to "hatch"!
