4 or 5 would be perfect actually! We were only looking to add 3 to 5 hens (so that should work out if a few of them are roo's.)
Where abouts in Florida are you? We're in central.
Does anyone in the central florida area have a few fertilized eggs to give away or sell? My bantam is extremely broody, and my wife and I have some extra room in our coop for some new chicks.
I have 4 chickens. One morning I woke up and went out to the coop to check on them, and found a clutch of 3 eggs. My wife and I were so excited, we'd raised them since they were about a week old, and it was extremely rewarding.
Anyway, that was last wednesday. I have not seen a single egg...
We found a chick with a neck wound about 4 days ago. We used Blue Kote on it right away, but she didn't like it.

No, they were in the run. She must have just found a way to slip out that we weren't aware of. I spent the rest of the evening making sure the run and coop were more secure.
My wife and I bought six week old chicks about a week and a half ago. We live in a town house that's fenced, but there are many holes and gaps. Additionally, there are feral cats who live in some of the neighbors yards.
