    Wild goose has moved in.

I've been to Salt Lake before, and Utah is a beautiful state, very scenic. It's funny you should mention Canadian geese because I have 5 that I raised from babies. They've stuck together a in their own little group for 4 years, one female and 4 males. This year 2 Canadian geese have paired...

    Wild goose has moved in.

Yes, it certainly is a welcome site when a wild bird stops by for a week or two, but even better when they decide this is npw home. One year a 3ft alligator showed up, but showed no interest in my geese. I caught and relocated the gator because eventually goose would have been on the menu...

    Wild goose has moved in.

Yes, it's part of the family for over 3 months now. I've had ducks and coots before that would stay for 1 to 2 weeks then fly off never to be seen again, but this goose has grown accustomed to the free feeding each day. I hope it stays, and may be find a permanent bound with one of my toulouse...

    Wild goose has moved in.

At first I thoughtcit was a goose, after a week on the web, I could not find any duck with its coloration. Once I begin looking for geese the size of a 5 pound duck, it began to resemble the white fronted goose more than the bean goose or greylag. It does have a slight white ring around its...

    Wild goose has moved in.

You never know what's going to fly in and how long they are going to stay. I'm sure it was a welcome addition to your flock, and enjoyable to see their interaction with your birds.

    Wild goose has moved in.

It flys very well and keeps its distance at about 50 feet from me. Can't get close enough, but I don't see any leg band.

    Wild goose has moved in.

It's a very quiet goose and submissive; my guess is female. It's skidish and only now shows up with the rest of the domestic geese at feeding time, but keeps its distance at about 50 feet. Not tame at all.

    Wild goose has moved in.

A greater white fronted goose has adopted my 3 toulouse as its family. It's been 3 months now and it goes where ever the toulouse geese go. I live in north Florida and this goose habitat is in Alaska. Very strange for it to have wanderd this far south. It has the same coloration as the...

    Aggressive pea hen

Ks, I was hoping that one of the momma peas would take these orphans, but they definitely want nothing to do with them. Thanks for reply.

    Aggressive pea hen

Ks, I judt let all the babies out with the free range, all the mothers attacked them repeatedly. Even the free range babies attacked them. I was able to trick them back into the pen, where they will stay until they are much bigger. I think the broken neck was a freak accident. The mother that...

    Aggressive pea hen

I have 4 pea hens, and all hatched out babies. The mother of two of the other hens I penned up to grow the chicks faster with flock feed because she hatched hers 2 weeks after the others hatched. They are all free range, but prefer to stay in the 100 by 50 foot fenced in corral with 4 pens...

    Advice on Free Range Peafowl

Enjoyed reading your story about your free range peahen and chicks. An update on My pea hen - after placing her in the pen with her last surviving chick, they spent 3 months in the pen on high protein game bird crumbles. The chick is 1/3 the size of momma and looks like a peacock chick. I...

    Advice on Free Range Peafowl

ZAZ Awesome pictures; the reason I got rid of my black shouldered peacock was that he wouldn't let the older peacock mate; he'd always interrupt the process, but the final straw was his vicious nature toward the chickens. He was out to kill them and their young, it was his mission to seek and...

    Advice on Free Range Peafowl

There is news update on my other peahen and her 3 young ins. This is my first experience with free ranging peas, and I wanted to see if they would reproduce successfully in the wild. This particular peahen nested inside the protected fence area, the other pea did not and lost both her nest...

    Advice on Free Range Peafowl

Little Red, last year, I got another peacock and hen pair to add to a pair that I already had, and all I got was trouble from the new peacock. He was a beautiful black shouldered two + year old that would not quit chasing the other peacock as well as attacking every chicken he could. Months...

Help- my male guinea is not walking- what's wrong?

Hello Fowl :O) One of my female guineas was laying on 15 guinea eggs and 2 pea eggs. She's still sitting on them even after she abandon the nest for a few days; they are probably no good now, as they should have hatched already. Yes they are the silliest goons ever; they are a desert bird and...

My Peachicks Of 2014 *** Will Have Lots Of Pictures ***

Casportpony, howdy there! Zaz mentioned getting a guard dog, probably better than the 4 noisy geese I have. My sister, who lives on a lake, has two dogs who have kill a few squirrels, coons and possums that came into their yard. Sister said that a group of marauding peafowl came into the...

My Peachicks Of 2014 *** Will Have Lots Of Pictures ***

Hi Zaz! Sad news, my dark pea chick is missing; momma had only 2 of the 3 chicks today, so as soon as the sun started to set I found the momma pea and removed her chicks from her. It was so sad to see the mother running franticly around looking for and calling for her chicks. They are in the...
