My hen had started pecking at hers and it was bleeding. She died the day after I took two of the scabs off. I soaked her in warm water with epsom salt to soften and it came off. I cleaned it with betadine and put gauze on it. Gauze wouldn't stay on and it kept bleeding. It was like raw...
Thank you!! I found it dead this morning. I thought maybe it was fowl pox too. I have lost so many in the last couple months. 3 bantams from chicken hawk attacks. Hawk went inside my coop. 2 were attacked by rooster and had neorilogical/paralysis symptoms and had to be put down. 1 bantam dound...
Chicken with swollen face and eyelids. Pics attached. What is this? 4 to 5 mos old. Not eating or drinking much. Please help.
Don't know what to do. Please help.
I agree it is overwhelming and confusing. With the symptoms they are experiencing according to what I read on the internet and BYC, it could be a number of things (injury, Mareks, Botulsim, etc).
I think I looked up fowl pox. Didn't look like that but I'll check again. I really think its the necrotic dermatitis. I live in Louisiana. I will search for state lab avian pathologist. I have emailed my pictures to the Chicken Doctor. He has been dealing with chickens for years and...
I am treating her with Baytril. I guess I'll try to give her a warm soak to soften the scabs, but I'm a little afraid to do that because there are so many and they are huge and I don't know what to do once they are off and what I will find underneath. it might start bleeding or something and...
I have a 3 mos old chicken with similar symptoms. Did a lot of searching on the internet and this website. At first I thought it was Marek's or botulism, but its been two weeks and she's still alive and doing a little better. I think she has limberneck, or crookneck. ( See information...
Thank you for the information. I have been searching the internet for the past few days and found this information also. i think this is what she has. The scabs are so hard and thick I don't think I can get it off without hurting her. Should I soften these huge scabs and try to take them off...
Thank you for you help. Here are some pictures. Hopefully someone will respond with some information. I have been searching the web for a few days and cannot find anything like this.....Somebody please help!!!
She is about 3 years old. It doesn't seem to bother her that much. She is a little slower than the others. She is eating and drinking. I think it started growing within the last several weeks, but I just noticed it about a week and a half ago. I don't know what to do with her. And it stinks.
My hen (about 3 yrs old) has these black dry and very hard growth like things protruding from her skin that are foul smelling. No oozing that I can tell. She has two on her neck, two on her back, one or two near crop/breast area. She looks deformed. Does anyone know what this is? Any advice...
Thank you for replying. I looked up pics of fowl pox. They are not on her face, comb, or wattles. They are on her body where the feathers are and they are huge. I will try to post some pictures.

I found one of my bantams (2 or 3 mos old) on the floor of the coop on Sunday. It's like she's sort of paralyzed, but she can walk a little but clumsy and wobbly. Something is wrong with her neck. Its limber and crooked. She can't hold it up too long. There is a protrusion on the left side...
