    Blue and Buff orpington cross

pic1 pic2 In pic 1 the chicks in the middle are out of my buff hens and blue rooster. Pic 2 is one of the chicks in pic 1. The ones that are all blue or black, are most likely out of my red stars. I knew with a blue/buff cross to expect buff coloring on top and blue coloring on bottom...

    Finally a pip!

It's not the best picture, but I just wanted to show yall what a few of my babies look like at almost 11 weeks old. I have 11 left of the 15 that hatched. Five of them have yellow on them, two are black and the rest are blue.

    Finally a pip!

I'm going to try to feather sex them afterwhile to see how many pullets there are. Hoping the ones with the yellow are pullets so I can put all my orps together in a couple of months. Then I'm going to put my red stars back with the sex link rooster they were raised with. He's getting kind of...

    Finally a pip!

I didn't really notice any movement until the first one pipped. All total I have fifteen live chicks, two that died in the zipping process and three that haven't done a thing. I decided to leave them in there a little bit longer. I might candle them tonight just to see what they look like. They...

    Finally a pip!

The three that have hatch appear to all be out of my buffs. I have a blue orp rooster, two buff hens, two red star hens and one white hen out of my red star from last year. She looks just like a Delaware. These three chicks are mostly blue and appear to have some yellow on them. My mother in law...

    Finally a pip!

I never would have thought of playing the sound of baby chicks to encourage hatching. They perked up when I played it just now. I am currently at three chicks hatched, one looks like its about to zip. It keeps poking its nose out the hole and the others have gathered around. Ten eggs have pips...

    Finally a pip!

I have failed to hatch any eggs out everytime I've tried. I made up my mind if i failed this time I would give up trying. I have had problems everytime and never even had a pip. The first time I didn't give them long enough. I felt bad about that. The second try my thermometer was off plus I had...
