Hello everyone! These are my four Welsh Harlequin's. I ordered them from Meyers in the spring and they will be four months tomorrow. They were suppose to all be girls but I'm pretty sure I have a drake.. No drake feather yet, but weird thing is "he" quacks just like all the girls! I have...
Picked these little girls up from my post office yesterday from Meyers. All Welsh Harlequins which is a new duck for me.
They got to go out and play in the sunshine for a little while today since it was so beautiful out!
Nelson was put down earlier this afternoon :'(
They couldn't find anything wrong with him but he kept having small seizures this morning. So we decided it was best to let him move on. :(
No vitamins for him. He was on two different medications for his problem he had at the end of january until about a month ago.
He's gets super disoriented when you touch him or pick him up (which is understandable because he has a hard time figuring out where he is when you put him back down)...
Yes. We are planning on bringing him in on Thursday if they can take him (since we are getting another storm here tomorrow).
Just wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts.
They do get grit, which he doesn't really touch much (poor guys normally trips over that dish) and he eats Mazuri...
Hello everyone,
A few of you have heard about Nelson when I first adopted him after being abandoned at our local animal shelter last summer. He is completely blind. Nelson and his friends have been living in my heated garage for the winter since I felt our Maine winter would be a little...
:) I saw I got an email from someone commenting on this post and I was excited!
I plan on getting Bentley a few girlfriends in the spring and some new ducklings to add to my little family so I should be around more!
Here is a current picture of Bentley!!
I still also have Nelson (my blind runner) and Rose (nelson's girlfriend). who are all living inside my heated garage currently because Nelson was just to cold out in the snow for the winter.
Unfortunately in December Petri, Bentley's girlfriend, broke...
Hello Everyone!
I am a relatively new duck owner and have discussed a lot with you guys about my Pekins (Bentley who had the crooked neck) and then about Nelson (runner) who is completely blind and finding him a friend.
So I got home from work the other day to find Nelson looking like this...
Awww :) Sounds just like Bentley. I think I was lucky his neck straightened out. But I do think if it hadn't he would have gotten along just fine like your Quasi :)
Isn't she wonderful? :) He still isn't to sure he likes her.. haha I think mostly because he's taken by surprise every time she comes over. But she really seems to like him :) I'm so glad I was able to find her.
Nelson has a girlfriend now :) She doesn't have a name quite yet.
She seems to love him but he is still afraid and runs from her every time she gets close to him. Which is quite often because she has taken to following him where ever he wanders too.
Happy to announce I was just approved to adopt at the MSPCA/Nevin's Farm in Mass where they have a few female runners. So Nelson should have some new friends by the weekend! :)
He does look great! Grooming himself a ton now too :)
Will do with the ACV! I also put some neosporin on it when I first saw it because I didn't know what else to do at that exact moment haha!
Nelson is doing beyond wonderful! I was away for the week and my mum and sister came over to take care of them while I was gone. I have noticed a huge change in him. For one he has become a master at moving around his cage and not bumping in to things. He looks bigger also and not so scruffy...
