Hi all, I'm in Mandville, LA (St.Tammany Parish) and keep a mixed flock of free-ranging organic-fed hens primarily for egg production (see photo). I have been searching for CLs locally to no avail. I found some last year (I was able to get one pure CL pullet and two mixed CL pullets) but the...
Well, like I said, I'm not breeding or showing so I really don't mind if they're not up to par with the breed standard. I bought them because they are sweet and pretty and they'll make a nice contribution to my egg basket when they start laying. :)
Thanks for the reply sandiklaws. The lighter one is quite a bit younger than her counterpart, so I'm thinking she will catch up in size and her leg feathering should come in nicely. I'm not breeding them or showing them so I'm not so concerned about their adherence to the breed standard--I just...
Here is the most recent pic of the cockerel--taken tonight. Pic was taken in my kitchen (they come inside at night) so the lighting is less than ideal, but you can see he is feathering in nicely (I think)?
Waffles--haha! Thank you--I'm very new to this and don't know what is desirable and what is not. Not even sure I will be breeding or not--just dipping my toes in the d'Uccle pond so-to-speak :)
This is my first time posting on here so please forgive me if I don't get it quite right...I am very new to chicken keeping and have a pair of mille fleur d'Uccles that I would like to breed...*possibly*. I would like honest opinions on my cockerel and pullet (both are just a few months old and...
I'm shocked and saddened by the suddenness of the progression of this relapse. She went from slightly rattled breathing to suffocation and death in under 3 hours time. I would really like to have a necropsy done to see what has caused this--especially since all 11 of my other birds were exposed...
I'm not certain if it is MG or CRD or something else--I can't find a thread that matches her symptoms exactly, but most things I have read say Tylan is an effective treatment for both as it is a broad spectrum antibiotic. The appearance, behavior and sudden progression of the relapse make me...
I have a FBC Maran pullet that is approximately 4 - 5 months old that had a respiratory infection--she was making a "wet" rattling sound when breathing, had somewhat labored breathing (she would stretch her neck out a little when trying to inhale), and had a sharp cough that was so forceful it...
