This may be just my imagination, but it seems that these tail feathers have appeared overnight. Does this change the opinion that this is a hen? It was hard to get a good picture. They are dark and pretty long. Chickens always know when you want a picture and they won't stand still!
I have noticed a difference in these from other breeds. They want to see me and find out what I'm doing. I've named this one Mable. She jumps on my back and climbs to my shoulder.
These two are 7 weeks old. The one in front was bigger from the start, developed feathers faster than the other. It is also the most friendly. Any thoughts on these two?
Thanks. I have been trying to correct this for a week now. Have been to the vet and they say it's not slipped tendon but the joint is swollen and they gave antibiotics. They taped the legs above and below the hock. I just am at a loss.
I didn't know that. I saw someone else posted somewhere they did that. I think it's hard on the eggs to ship them and no matter what you do, it might not turn out well.
I tipped the incubator itself. I stopped at day 16 then laid them flat. I had 7 go to lockdown.4 hatched. 1 tried and I didn't help and it didn't make it. I personally won't hatch shipped eggs again. I think it's too hard on them
Today is day16. I have 7 live embryos, the others either quit or never developed. I have been keeping the eggs upright in cartons and tipping the incubator to turn. It looks to me that the aircells are in good shape. I have two questions. 1. Should I stop turning at day 16 or the usual 18? 2. If...
It's funny how chickens seem to always make a liar out of me, lol! I turned the eggs last night and figured while I had to handle them, it wouldn't hurt to look. I have 7 developing!!! :-) it's early, we'll see.
