I had the same problem with my first two hatches. I believe the thermometer that came with the bator was off. On the third attempt I got two new thermometers and 7 out of 9 chicks hatched! Yay. Now I have 7 babies a week old, 2 chickens that are 4 weeks old and 2 that are 8 weeks. Done...
What a pretty chicken mama and beautiful babies! I am just starting my 'chicken craze' and hope to someday have my chickens hatching their own chicks! So far I have 2 chickens that are 7 weeks old and 2 chicks that are 4 weeks old and 9 in the incubator due to hatch this week.
Candled on day 7. Ten out of twelve look good. 2 are questionable. Will candle again in a few days. I have 3 Banty's - I can't wait to see them when they hatch!
Thanks for the info. I did clean and sterilize the incubator after the last hatch. Any advise is welcome!
Going to candle today - day 7 - to see what I can see.....
Joining the June hatch-a-long! I have 12 barnyard mix with a few Bantys. I am new to hatching. This is my third attempt. The first time I had 18 eggs, didn't candle, dry incubator - borrowed. Only one chick hatched. April 1st. Second attempt 10 mixed eggs in. Two hatched, one with a problem...
Can anyone tell me if this is normal looking for a chick that had a yoke sac not totally absorbed? She hatched yesterday, is eating, drinking, running around. I took her out of the incubator a day after hatching.
Is there something I should do? I put some bactician around the area.

One chick is pipping.Has been since about 8 this morning. It is pretty loud once in a while. The other 9 are quiet and no movement. Hope the overnight and morning bring more movement and noise! Or better yet.....CHICKS!
Tomorrow is hatch day! I see nothing moving so far. Anxious to see how many we get. Only 1 out of 18 on my last (first) hatch. Ten in the bator now all looked good candling on day 14. Wish me luck!
Candled on day 14 - 10 out of 12 look good. Removed one. Will probably remove one more before lock down. Lock down in 2 days! Hoping for a good hatch this time.
I'm in!
Second time around. Set 12 eggs on April 13th in a LG still air,no turner.
First time only 1 of 18 hatched. Not sure where I went wrong the first time. I had several issues that most likely contributed to the bad hatch. A temp spike due to the sun hitting the incubator. Then an...
